About this ebook

Dynamic DNA presents breakthrough knowledge with its validation of Ayurvedic, Yoga, and New Age concepts with Western science thinking. The shelves are heavy with books of yoga, but they do not show, scientifically, the connection between yoga and the DNA. The author presents the interconnection of DNA and kundalini and how diet, lifestyle, and meditation can help purify the body to its highest potential.

Dynamic DNA - Hari Sharma, MD

    Advance Praise for Dynamic DNA

"Dr. Sharma’s work has bridged the worlds of Ayurveda and modern science for three decades. In this new work, he makes the startling and insightful characterization that ‘Ayurveda is epigenetics.’ Contemporary evidence showing that genetic information from our life experience is carried across—and even changed within—generations is, he reveals, at the heart of what Ayurveda has described, and prescribed, for millennia.

By focusing on the inter-generational transfer of knowledge via the physics of DNA, Dr. Sharma makes the case for a physics of consciousness: of energy, its flow, and its essential nature as information. Some aspects of Vedic Science and its theory of energy are as yet untested by physics and medical science, and here Dr. Sharma and his coauthor, James G. Meade, PhD, build conceptual bridges that frame the direction for a new generation of insightful researchers. Dr. Meade brings his experience as a writer in the ‘For Dummies’ series, to work with Dr. Sharma in translating the challenging science of epigenetics and the multilayered concepts of Ayurveda into an accessible and fascinating reading experience."

"Dynamic DNA is not simply offering a fresh perspective on DNA, it is quietly offering nothing less than the solution to human suffering and, beyond even that, a vision of what comes when the pain is gone. The authors have unfolded the mysterious scientific subjects of DNA and kundalini. They have masterfully explained these topics with ample references from various scientific books and journals. They have used lucid language and given examples from day-to-day life. Their deep insights in both the spiritual and scientific fields make the book an important reference on these subjects.

DNA was thought to be unchangeable. But scientific research has shown that DNA expression can be changed by epigenetics. The authors have explained in a simple way how the science of Ayurveda can affect DNA by turning genes on and off to change its expression. I recommend this book for every person who wants to know the secrets of DNA and Ayurveda."

Connecting basic science, natural and integrative medicine with metaphysics, Dr. Sharma explains how the field of Ayurveda allows us to transform our lives by unfolding the full potential of our DNA. Epigenetics influences DNA expression through diet, behavior, meditation and environment. He takes us on a bold and thought-provoking journey toward understanding perfect health.

One of the most important next steps in the evolution of modern medicine is understanding how our daily choices impact our DNA. Ayurveda is an ancient tool that allows us to address our modern health challenges through the deeper understanding of how we all control our genetic destiny. This book is a timely look into a subject that has the capacity to change the future of disease.

"Dr. Sharma is a conservative Western physician, yet his books are electrifying. Freedom from Disease. The Answer to Cancer. And now Dynamic DNA may be the biggest breakthrough of all. He goes deeper into the causes and treatments of disease than we ever have before, straight to the inner energy body and beyond. Wow."

When we think mind/body, we tend to think of ‘mind’ as abstract. That is, we see the spiritual as wonderful but abstract. I love the way that Dr. Sharma here brings the spiritual into the everyday physical world, the world of DNA. If the spiritual is chemical, how many possibilities does that open? We can get our hands right on the spiritual. This is a book that opens new frontiers of understanding and, even better, of treatment.

"Dynamic DNA offers a new perspective looking at modern science through the ancient knowledge and wisdom of Ayurveda and Vedic Sciences. Dr. Sharma provides meaningful and thoughtful insights into the correlation between our diet, lifestyle choices, gene expression and evolution. In over 30 years of teaching and practicing Ayurveda worldwide, I believe this to be the most clearly articulated and illustrated reference on Ayurveda as epigenetics. Supported by extensive and groundbreaking research, yet accessible to all readers, this book is an indispensable resource for students, researchers, physicians, and all who seek to understand epigenetics leading us toward a conscious evolution of humanity."

Ayurveda Director, International University of Yoga and Ayurveda, Inc., USA

"My medical school training was deeply rooted in the belief of a ‘holistic’ connectedness between mind, body, and spirit. When in balance this relationship would dictate homeostasis and wellbeing. The current medical system focuses on the ‘body.’ In Dynamic DNA Dr. Sharma brings us ‘Back to the Future.’ He dove-tails Ayurveda and epigenetics to help reconnect us with ‘Source.’ This is an important (must) read, especially for those of us in medicine."

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Past President, American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists

At any given moment, we are the end result of all our experiences metabolized in the past. The body is continuously changing. If we want to change the expression of the mind-body continuum, we must bring different experiences. Genes on the chromosomes are always turning on or off to create a new ‘you.’ Dr. Hari Sharma, a pioneer in the integration of the current medical system with Ayurveda, brings to light what is possible through Ayurveda, which he equates with epigenetics. This is a must-read book for anyone who wants to understand ancient wisdom in terms of contemporary research validating these ancient practices.

Our knowledge of the genetic basis of life is rapidly expanding, and all the while we are becoming overwhelmed by an epidemic of chronic illness. Drs. Sharma and Meade achieve a synthesis of the ancient health science of Ayurveda with the most modern conclusions of epigenetics. In doing so, they uncover the key to health in our modern world. Their book plots a path back to nature along a modern freeway across an ancient landscape. A must-read for those in need of health, and who today doesn’t need a way back to health?

"I bought 100 copies of Dr. Sharma’s The Answer to Cancer to give to my patients. His collaboration with Dr. Meade creates a special chemistry—advanced scientific thinking presented in a compelling but understandable read. This latest undertaking, Dynamic DNA, presents new and useful knowledge about how to upgrade our DNA, the core of what makes us human. I appreciate the authors’ insights and their sense of humor."

    About the Authors

    Prologue: Can Paradise Be Regained?

Life is frustrating. It seems we often take one step forward, two steps back. As the years accumulate, we grow in wisdom—which is fine. Meanwhile, as the years pass, our bodies lose more and more of their zip, our skin sags, and memory takes a somersault. We also accumulate baggage—broken relationships, job disappointments, missed opportunities to bring in the big one, and a recurring sense of walking on a treadmill that seems to be taking us inexorably backward.

What would paradise regained look like? First of all, did we ever have it to lose? And if we did, we don’t remember it. We’re not even sure, truth be told, what paradise should be in the first place. The streets should be lined with gold. That, everyone agrees on. But then all the rest is up for debate. Will it be full of great food and exquisite relationships with only the best people? Is there wonderful TV there? Would it be a better place with or without cell phones? What would you do there?

The whole question of paradise and regaining it spins quickly out of control and into the ether. We don’t know what it is. We don’t know if we lost it. And we haven’t a clue how to regain something when we’re not even sure what it is.

Yet here in a science book we’re looking at a material way to regain paradise and seeking it in a chemical way having to do with a substance in the body called DNA, an abbreviation for deoxyribonucleic acid, that we normally encounter only through watching crime dramas about DNA testing. We learned you can quickly identify a person by knowing his or her DNA (whatever that is).

And we suggest, too, that we don’t have to know what paradise was or is. We just have to get the DNA working perfectly. In spite of all the stress of trudging through life and not really getting anywhere (with death guaranteed at the end), all we have to do is systematically purify the DNA. And then paradise awaits us. It doesn’t matter what it is. We’ll know it when we find it.

Working on the DNA sounds like something we can do, if we think of it as tinkering on a car or fixing up the house. We know about cleaning things up and getting them working right. We don’t usually think of life as something we can treat that way. It’s too relentlessly cruel and complicated. But the game changes when we think of just fixing something material.

What if we can lay out the elements of the body, lay out the characteristics of the energy world inside it and the pure consciousness within that, and just systematically work on them all? What if we forget ethics and metaphysics and just treat the whole package as something material?

And then, what if we fix what’s wrong with it? What if we can change what’s wrong through diet, lifestyle, stress management, and a healthy environment, supplemented with some powerful yogic
