How To Grow Organic Cannabis - Ron Johnson

    Introduction

My name is Ron. I live in Southern California and I legally grow my own backyard cannabis.

I used to work in Aerospace, but after nearly two decades of grinding it out I decided the long hours and conservative culture just weren't happenin’ for me anymore. I was growing my own weed and enjoying its pleasures, yet I couldn't share my love of cannabis gardening with coworkers for fear of getting fired. I mean let’s face it, nobody wants to get fired. I quit that motherfucker instead.

Now I help my wife with her business and volunteer at the VA in my spare time. Oh, and now that cannabis has been legalized in California, I teach people how to grow marijuana organically in their backyards. I do it for free through my website, TheCannabisGardener.com, but so many people have asked for an easier-to-follow ebook version that I ended up creating this one. I’m sorry I have to charge y’all for it, but in the immortal words of Randy BoBandy from the Trailer Park Boys, A man’s gotta eat.

You might wonder how I learned to grow, and that’s a damn fine question. The truth is that I don’t know a single other person who grows weed. Not one. I had to teach myself how to grow by slogging through internet forums, reading marijuana-growing websites, and asking questions online which often gave me two or more opposing answers. Call me a conspiracy nut, but I think some growers don’t want people learning how to grow because they’ll be out of business. Me? I got no problem teaching people because I ain’t selling shit—I’m just growing for me and my dog. The plain fact is that I love growing weed, I have a successful harvest 100% of the time, and I love teaching people how to grow it. I hope you’ll love it too.

As you may have noticed, this book lacks the polish of other grow guides. That’s because I believe in giving you highly detailed personal instruction, not a long chapter on the history of weed combined with superficial grow advice and glossy pictures that don’t apply. I’ll be right there with you as we mix up organic soil and kill those goddamn budworms in the flowering stage. If you want polish, read my other books Lunch Special and Televangelist. In this book, we’re gettin’ dirty.

I do need to admit something. The only weed I know how to grow is outdoors, and I grow it organically with soil I make myself. I used nutes the first couple years, but once I learned how cheap and easy organic growing was, I tossed the Grow Big, Big Bloom and CalMAG in the trash and never looked back. Trust me when I tell you that organic growing is the way to go. I ain’t bullshittin’ when I say that you just add water. Maybe a scoop of earthworm castings too, but you get the point.

My cannabis grows organically in soil I've mixed myself, right next to my onions, cherry tomatoes, basil, and other goodies. If that's something that excites you then you're really going to enjoy growing organically. If you only want to grow mind-twisting hydroponic space weed from the planet Juniper, I can't help you with that because it's just not interesting to me. I love weed the way nature intended, grown in organic soil under the sun without chemical nutrients. I almost love growing weed more than smoking it. Almost.

I’m kinda blabbing you to death, but just a few more things.

This book is intended for first-time or novice growers. My goal is to walk you through your grow, all the way from mixing your soil to curing your buds. Your first grow will be stressful at times, but I’m here to help you every step of the way. Stick it out to the end and you’re gonna be smoking the best weed in the world: the kind you grew in your own backyard, by your own hand.

Now I gotta pull the dick move. This book is only for use by people who live in a state where it’s legal to cultivate marijuana for personal use. You are solely responsible for what you grow. I grow my own marijuana, legally and for my own personal use, in California where it’s legal. Have I said legal enough? If you are not legally allowed to grow marijuana, you must turn back immediately. Burn this book. Never return and consider Jesus in your life. If you've already considered Jesus, now’s the time to double-down. If it is not legal to grow and use cannabis where you live, I refuse to help you. Please leave.

With that outta the way, are you excited yet? I hope so, because I'm excited for you. You're about to learn a skill that not many people have: how to grow your own weed organically. Saddle up partner!

    Get Started Growing Cannabis

A quick outline of the steps you’ll take to successfully grow your own weed. Each step represents a corresponding chapter. Please review each chapter early, as some tasks (like making compost and procuring seeds) take time to complete.

    HOW TO MAKE COMPOST

For the best organic soil, I suggest making your own compost using kitchen scraps and a compost tumbler. This chapter shows you how to do it.

    HOW TO MAKE ORGANIC SOIL

This is your ticket to growing without expensive and confusing nutrients. Cheap, easy, natural. Good soil is the most important part of growing cannabis and this chapter shows you step-by-step how to make organic soil. There’s a little bit of math in this section, so make sure you’re focused.

    SOURCE YOUR CANNABIS

In order to grow your own cannabis, you'll need a source for either cannabis clones or seeds. The choice is yours but unless you know a person who will give you a healthy clone straight from their own garden, I recommend growing from seed. This chapter discusses the reasons why, and gives you advice on choosing the best seeds for your first outdoor grow.

    PLANT A CANNABIS SEED

You'll need to plant your cannabis seed or transplant
