Gay character/themed short stories written by a gay Greek man from Sydney Australia.

LOOKS

Another session at the gym lifting weights, and motivating others. Achieving my body image goals has given me the confidence to think I can do anything in life. But what does society think about my 'obsession'?

REVIEW

After having seen the latest 'gay masterpiece' movie, a gay male couple discuss their conflicting opinions.

PROTEST

Waking up I was trying to remember what Chris had told me last night, a gross violation against our community and we had to put a stop to it. What could the protest be for I wondered?

PTSD

An out & proud sociology professor delivers a presentation on the state of our community, but constantly references our status as always being just victims. The presentation concludes and I just can't leave without saying something.

OUTED

Coming out in a Greek culture migrant world.

I was born in Sydney, Australia, before the internet age, and grew up with an appreciation of the rich history of my Greek heritage. I was also gay, but never ashamed of it, and kept that part of my life hidden since it was my own business. .I had reached a point in my life where I started writing down my experiences, a kind of therapy to let things out. The result was a memoir, and after the fifth & final draft, it has been one of the thrills of my life to first see the cover of my first book, IN LOVE I TRUST, jump off the screen from Amazon’s website. One of my passions is my love for ‘Star Trek’. The ideals of a hopeful & inclusive future. I believe in the simplicity of life, not the exaggerated. I use a pen name, and I’m not a fan of social media. I prefer an author having an air of mystery about them. Live Long & Prosper, A.B. Deos

    1: LOOKS

Who’s that guy I can’t keep my eyes off, he’s so hot. His tanned, smooth skin, those chiseled arms, and that bulging chest above the outline of his eight-pack abs under the tight tank top. When he turns around, I see that bubble butt of his, perfectly proportioned with the rest of his muscled body, and covered by tight, black, lycra shorts. Turning around again, I fix my sight on his snug privates and then extend my gaze down, to his thick thighs and his bulky calves. This work of art on display before me, it was a masterpiece that would forever haunt the walls of my mind.

Oh wait, that guy is me!

Catching my own image in the mirrored walls of the gym, I now knew what it felt like when others stared at me, the curiosity too great to resist. But this, was a gift that I presented, an opportunity for others to be motivated so that they too could achieve their life’s full potential.

I was finishing up with dumb-bells and putting them back on the racks. Today had been upper body day, and after rounds of constant repetitions, I was wanting to just go straight home now. Ending each session with a cardio run, sit-ups, and a refreshing dip in the indoor pool would still be waiting here for me tomorrow. Well the later was also for show, just my tight black speedos adorning this crafted frame of mine. If I was going to perfect my body to this degree then it only seemed right to exhibit my work as fully as I could, and further motivate the masses.

I wish others could comprehend my gym routine rewards, which extended far beyond just the physical. A higher level of confidence, and a greater positive outlook on life, but also the way others judged me. In the real world, there were many unwritten rules, and one of them was that looks were treated as a social status.

Look at any advertising campaign, magazine cover, commercial, or big blockbuster movie. Fit bodies and beautiful faces endorsing products for you to watch, try & buy. The ‘turning back time’ beauty youth creams, the total body transformation five-minute-a-day exercise machines, and all those revolutionary fat-draining cooking appliances just to name a few. Yes they will make you look just like the beautiful & trim celebrity hocking off that product, the big lie that marketers want you to accept, and with just a few clicks you do. Yes, beauty, that motivator that does away with our free willed decision making because deep down we all want some of that.

We used to judge people on their character but now we obsess about superficial things. Besides looks, we now ask what job do
