Marsell Morris

Marsell was born in Detroit Michigan in the year of... well, a good while ago. After graduating from Cass Technical High School, Marsell went to work for the Chrysler Corporation as a conveyor loader. Shortly after beginning his employment with Chrysler, he married, and fathered three children. Thirty-one years later, and after having gained the position of production supervisor, he retired at fifty. After retiring, he began playing golf everyday and all day. Having lowered his handicap to near scratch, and winning a tournament at even par, and behind a debilitating injury, he was unable to continue playing. He had a lot of free time on his hands, whereupon, he took up writing as a hobby and time killer and discovered he had talent for spinning a yarn. After pounding out eleven urban fictions, covering everything from drug use, prostitution, gang crime, murder, and romance/erotica, and having always been a science fiction fan from his teenage years, he thought he’d try his hand at writing a Sci-Fi tail, which culminated in his first work “Alien Plot - First Contact” now retitled "Alien Offensive - Nanobot Storm" and its four sequels, and which, at one time before he ran into problems with its publisher, was considered good fodder for production as a movie, not because he is such a great writer, but because of its unique, previously unexplored, plot.He still lives in Detroit, and being a compulsive writer, he spends most of his time wearing out his fourth keyboard replacement, while pursuing what he loves doing — writing more tails with unique story lines.

    Prologue

Why can't we cure cancer, yet?

If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we cure cancer?

If we can harness the atom, why can't we cure cancer?

How many times have you heard these questions, or variants of them?

How many time have you asked these questions yourself?

I can imagine we all know someone who, either, has the disease, been cured of the disease, or succumbed to it.

To this day, I wonder why cancer is so difficult to defeat — don't you?

Well, while reading this short story, you'll receive an abbreviated answer to that question.

You'll, also, be entertained by a chilling story about what can happen, if, during the attempted development of a cancer cure, things go terribly wrong.

    Enjoy.

    The Author

    Chapter 1

Well, boss, in about five minutes, you'll be recognized the great geneticist you are. Are you ready? asked, Jahmiah, Cooper, Doctor, Bradley, Brazil's, assistant, and good friend.

Do I have a choice? Since my discovery was leaked to the press, I can't go to the bathroom without some reporter hounding me. Besides, it's not ready. I haven't had a chance to run all the clinical test I should. There might be unpredictable side effects I'm not aware of, Brad, responded, as he sat back stage in the Stockholm, Ceremony Hall, in Stockholm, Sweden. Everybody is always in such a hurry to proclaim everything a great success. Why can't they wait until it has been proven to be so? he, said, as he glanced up into the dressing mirror, and then dropped his chin to his chest, while hoping his fears were unfounded.

Did you expect anything different once it was leaked you have discovered a cure for cancer? There is no way you could have kept something of that magnitude secret for long.

A knock at the dressing room door was followed by a voice that said, Two minutes, Doctor, Brazil.

Brazil ignored the curtain call. Yeah, I understand the excitement, but it's too early to celebrate. I can't shake the feeling something is going to go terribly wrong, Coop. I don't like this at all. Help me with my jacket.

Cooper picked up the black, tux jacket and gave it a brush as he helped Brad into it. Come on, BB, you're about to receive the Nobel in science. Just relax and enjoy it. You can worry tomorrow while you try to decide how you'll spend the cool million you're about to receive. He spun Brad around and adjusted his bow tie. Rather distinguished, I must say. Now, can I get a smile on that solemn face?

You're right, Coop. Come on let's get this shindig over with.

Another knock at the door was answered by Brad.

Great, I see you're ready, said, the back stage manager. "Follow me. Doctor. The world wants to thank you
