Learn to Crochet Corner to Corner and The Straight Box Stitch Patterns. Learn Two Popular Patterns In Just One Day - Florence Schultz

Chapter One – Stitches Used in This Book

IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER this chapter will teach you the stitches and techniques you need to know in order to crochet both patterns. If you’re familiar with basic crochet stitches and techniques, then this chapter will act as a handy refresher course. I recommend using a medium weight yarn and a size I/9 (5.50mm) or J/10 (6.00mm) hook for the patterns in this book. You can use a thinner or bulkier yarn and adjust your hook size if you prefer. Check the yarn label for the recommended hook size when choosing the yarn for these projects.

    Chain Stitch

Create a slip knot and place it on the hook. Place the yarn over the hook (known as a yarn over) and pull it through the slip knot on the hook. This is a chain stitch. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the loop on the hook. This is the next chain stitch. Concentrate on getting your stitches even, not on speed. Speed will come later, for now you want to get used to
