    INTRODUCTION

    A prolific writer once said, Proper preparation prevents poor performance. This is the reality of life. Food and health is no exception to this fact of life. Planning ahead and deciding to do the right thing sets you up for extra-ordinary achievements. I personally have discovered that meal prep is the best way to cut off on heavy carb food and still maintain a perfectly healthy body and mind, alongside incredible weight control.

    Meal prep is one fantastic way to save your energy, money, time and still give you a great opportunity of sticking to your keto diet. I will be your guide on how to prep on the keto diet and also list out for you some kitchen utensils you will need in your journey to the keto meal prep world.

    It will interest you to know that it has been scientifically proven that planning in any of life's endeavor works with proven results than just having mere determination or motivation without a written and well mapped out strategy to follow. This brings me to the reason why you need to start meal prepping immediately.

    WHY SHOULD I MEAL PREP?

    1. It saves you the headache of MAKING DECISION on what to eat. The decision on what to eat can easily paralyze an individual's willpower as that sometimes can be a daunting task. Meal prepping saves you from the stress of making a choice per day, week or even months.

    2. It saves your money and time for you. Few hours of planning your meal, shopping and cooking your meals can give you incredible hours to yourself in the course of the week. This makes you cut off unnecessary spending that are way off the budget and do away with food wastage. This wonderful meal prep gives you an idea into what your budget for feeding should look like and helps you stick your guns to the essentials.

    3. This is perhaps the most important for most people- it helps you achieve and maintain ketosis. This helps a lot of folks stick to their macro goals and target as many find it challenging sticking to it. Thankfully, meal prep keeps you in line with your calculated macros.

    KITCHEN UTENSILS NEEDED

    I will be listing out for you some basic kitchen kits/tools you will need for your meal prep adventure. It's okay if you have them but, you can look for them at Amazon stores to get quality at an affordable price. Here they are:

    1. Skillet: I recommend you buy the iron cast skillet for durability. Infact, it’s easier to clean and safer than any other.

    2. Blender/Food processor: This helps in preparing your salad dressings, cauliflower rice, smoothies, homemade but butters etc.

    3. Slow Cooker/Instant pot: This equipment i tell you is one of the world's greatest blessings to the cooking world. You can simply throw in all your ingredients, set it and forget it there while you do other things. This is an asset for keto lovers. It works perfectly well for your soups, broths and animal products.

    4. Chef's knife: A very good knife is the best bet here as knives with low or inferior quality can slip off causing domestic accident while in the kitchen. Take your time and get a good one that will serve you well.

    5. Kitchen Scale: This is one of the most useful and important of all ‘cos you don't want to measure out of proportion especially for those keen on ketosis or starters in the keto meal prep. There are various scales at your disposal. Get one that is suitable for you.

    6. Parchment paper: This basically prevents your food from sticking especially during baking.

    7. Food containers: This helps you split you food into various containers depending on the individual servings. I strongly recommend a glass container because it is microwave safe and keeps at bay harmful chemicals present in plastic containers.

    KICKING OFF CORRECTLY

    Here are some tips that should help and guide you as you start up.

    1. Decide on what you want to eat.

    I mentioned earlier that proper preparation is key in all we do. So, sit down, write out your meal plan for the week, stating expressly the recipes needed for each of the meals (you can plan for 1 or 2 weeks at a stretch). It is also important you outline how many people your meal will be catering for so as to prevent waste if you are someone like me. Decide on the day of the week to do your shopping and where you would. I recommend you repeat your meals for some days to save you more time. Finally, decide on the day to do the cooking. If you ask me, a weekend is perfect for this adventure.

    2. Put together your lists and get them.

    After you must have gathered all the ingredients for the recipes, have a comprehensive list breaking them down into categories as you would find them in your grocery store. Clearly state the amounts you will need for each ingredient you will be purchasing. Do not be distracted by other items that might seem catchy. Stick to your list, get them and move out.

    3. Cook your meal and prep it.

    If this is your first time of trying this, I must tell you that it is going to be interesting. You might not get the whole trick at once, but, it gets better with practice. First, have all you ingredients ready before you start cooking your meal. This is fundamental. Secondly, read up the directions in the recipe you want
