Introduction: Understanding Myers-Briggs
What is MBTI and How Does It Apply to Me?
What is the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) and how does it relate to people’s perceptions of who they are? The Myers-Briggs Personality types are based on research done by Carl Jung. Jung believed that random variation in people’s behavior is really not random, but rather based on the way people use their judgment and perception to address a situation. Jung believed that there are four psychological functions for the way people perceive the world – sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. Jung believed that one of these four functions is a dominate trait for a person most of the time. Knowing your personality type can help you understand how you will react in a given situation or why you prefer some tasks over others. It might guide you in choosing a career or deciding what major you are best suited to study. It might also help you find solutions to problems that occur at work or in your personal life.
The MBTI is a self-reporting questionnaire, developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, that shows a person his or her psychological preference and how he or she perceives the world around them and how they make decisions accordingly.
Myers and her mother identified sixteen personality types and their subsequent characteristics. If you are interested in figuring out your own personality type, there are many online quizzes you can take. However, this How-To guide will focus on the INFJ personality type and how it applies to becoming a successful author.
What is An INFJ Personality?
People with an INFJ personality type are nurturers with a strong creative drive. They also possess a powerful sense of personal integrity and a desire to help others reach their
