Chapter One: Who Is Donald Trump?
My whole life is about winning. I don’t lose often. I almost never lose.

Trump: The Enigma
There is something about Donald Trump’s character that makes you stand up and pay attention. If you look at most political and business leaders around the world today, they are somewhat reserved in their opinions about how to change the way things are done. They try to skirt around the critical issues to avoid ruffling feathers. Trump, on the other hand, doesn’t try to please everybody.
As a result, he elicits great hatred and unparalleled adoration in equal measure. The world doesn’t know what to think of or how even to handle Donald Trump. There is no middle ground. You either love him, or you hate him. This is what makes his life so interesting.
Donald Trump is well-known as a brash, aggressive, and ambitious man who knows exactly what he wants and how to get things done. Some people would describe him as acting like a reckless chariot driver, racing to the finish line as he bulldozes everyone in his path.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I am not one to judge, so you will have to make up your own mind about his lifestyle and character. Has he been able to achieve great things through his go-getter, take-no-prisoners attitude? Absolutely! Facts don’t lie. The man has withstood financial, personal, and now political hurricanes and still come out on top. A lesser man would have given up on life by now, but clearly, Donald Trump is no average guy.
To better understand Donald Trump, the billionaire real estate magnate, former reality TV personality, and current president of the USA, we have to step back in time and briefly look at the path that his ancestors took.
A History of Persistence
The year is 1905, and Friedrich Trump, Donald Trump’s paternal grandfather, is being deported from the Kingdom of Bavaria (in Germany). Why? The government has declared him a draft dodger for migrating to the US in 1885 and failing to sign up for mandatory military service. The Trump family is in a crisis!
Friedrich Trump has just spent 17 years in America. Though he spent his first six years in the US working as a barber’s apprentice, he is now making a fortune in the Klondike Goldrush and through running small hotels and restaurants. After realizing that the profitability of the gold rush is declining, and the government is increasingly getting involved in the business, he decides to sell all his assets and move back to his homeland of Bavaria.
He gets married in 1902 and takes his new bride back to New York, where he works as a barber and hotel manager. His wife hates the weather in New York, and they travel back to Germany in 1904. That’s when the Bavarian authorities find him guilty of fleeing to America to dodge military service. They strip him of his citizenship and expel him from Germany. His first son, Frederick, is born in the Bronx, New York, in October 1905.
Let’s fast forward to June 14th, 1946. Donald J. Trump is born in Queens, New York City to Frederick and Mary Trump. He is the fourth of five kids. His father is a wealthy real estate developer who specializes in constructing apartments all over New York. It seems that despite all the hardship that Friedrich Trump had gone through, from starting life as a young barber to being deported from
