My parents attended different churches. My siblings and I grew up attending the church our mother attended. We attended the private school associated with this church. One subject we had in this school was religion. After I went off to college, my Dad gave me an old KJV Bible. I read this bible from Genesis to Revelation several times. After reading the bible, my values changed and my life style changed. I had a love for going to church and attending Sunday School. I also enjoyed going to different churches. Anyone that invited me to a church, I always accepted the invitation. At that time, I only wanted ties with God and not a particular denomination. After graduating from college and working with the USDA Forest Service, I married. My wife had strong ties to the church she attended. I had no preference on which church to attend, but thought it would be best for the two of us to attend the same church. The denomination that my wife grew up attending is where I became an ordained minister and pastor. After I retired from the Forest Service, my wife and I move back to our home state. I still have a zeal to preach occasionally, but I know my gift is teaching.

Foreword
As Peter mentioned in 2 Peter 1:21, God has used the mouth of holy men to speak His word. An example of this is found in Acts chapter 2, the day of Pentecost. On the day of Pentecost Peter informed the people that God was pouring out His spirit upon these people to speak, Acts 2:16-18. Another example is in St. Luke 1:67-70; Zacharias began to prophesy. As we receive God’s word with faith, it is the Holy Ghost that gives us the spiritual meaning of it. As Jesus mention in St. John 14:26 & 16:12-13A, the Holy Spirit shall teach you. Jesus mentioned this again in St. Luke 24:49 about the promise of the Father. The promise of the Father came upon the apostles on the day of Pentecost. God’s children that were taught the word of God by the Holy Ghost were considered to be unlearned people by the theologians during the time of Christ, Acts 4:13. Peter was considered unlearned and Paul was well educated, Acts 26:24. Peter was taught by God and also Paul, Galatians 1:12.
Jesus is described as the Word in St. John chapter one. In Psalms 40:7 David references the coming of Jesus Christ in a book; and Paul referenced this fact in Hebrews chapter 10. In St. John 17:8, Jesus said He has given us the Words. In St. Johns 6:68, Peter told Jesus He had the words to eternal life. When we receive God’s words with faith, we become His sheep and His sheep hear His voice, St. John 10:1-5.
The purpose of these questions is to give you a basic foundation to build upon. As Peter mentions in 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow by it. If you continue to read God’s word you will become affluent to distinguish the doctrines of men sprinkled with isolated scripture out of context. As Paul encouraged Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15: Study to show yourself approved unto God, a worker that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. You will also be able to recognize errors in articles, movies and books. It has been prophesied that false doctrines and teachers will increase. Finally, as spoken in Revelations 1:3, blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written: for the time is at hand.
I pledge that I will have a nightly devotion with my family with a set time for reading the Bible and praying while at home. We will read at least seven chapters and summarize what was read in each chapter. If I have visitors, I will ask them to join our devotion period. If I am away from home, I will continue with the devotion at the most convenient time daily. Joshua 24:15
