I was born in the bush on the boarder of New South Wales and Victoria where the weather is very hot and dry, with long sizzling summers. During the heat of the day we hide from the sun as pigs unlike humans can’t sweat to cool down. By evening we search for food. When the wheat fields turn to dust and there’s no grass we dig up roots, worms and insects to eat. Sometimes we find carrion beside the road side.

    (PARENT/TEACHER QUESTIONS)

    1. What does feral pig mean?

    2. What countries are close to Australia?

    3. What does carrion mean? How do you spell carrion?

    4. What is an omnivore?

Life in the bush was very laid back and quiet. That was until the night gun shots and the yelping of hunting dogs sounded in our peaceful habitat. I was so scared when the large jaws of the hunting dogs grabbed me. lt all happened so quickly and then a man with a gun and ropes tied my trotters together, throwing me onto the back of his Ute.
