About this ebook
The Russo-Japanese War started with a surprise Japanese naval attack against an anchored enemy fleet still believing itself at peace. It ended with the Battle of Tsushima, the most decisive surface naval battle of the 20th century. This gripping study describes this pivotal battle, and shows how the Japanese victory over Russia led to the development of the dreadnought battleship, and gave rise to an almost mythical belief in Japanese naval invincibility.
Mark Lardas
Mark Lardas has always been fascinated by things related to the sea and sky. From building models of ships and aircraft as a teen, he then studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, but his interest in aviation led him to take a job on the then-new Space Shuttle program, where he worked for the next 30 years as a navigation engineer. Currently he develops commercial aircraft systems as a quality assurance manager. He has written numerous books on military, naval or maritime history.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A good book, but the digital copy is horrible - spaces between words are non existent. It is like reading Egyptian hieroglyphs.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the most satisfying of the 2018 group of Osprey books; Lardas here does an admirable job of explaining the campaign, and he puts his finger on something I've never seen discussed in detail before -- namely, how close-run a thing it was, and how over-stretched Japan was even after the battle. In some ways, as he points out, Russia was the victim of bad luck on top of the inertia and fatalism that proved so fatal. Very good illustrations, too. Highly recommended.
