Memory Become A Genius and Learn More About Your Brain - Sherrol Stein

    Introduction

Welcome and congratulations on purchasing this book. At the outset, I would like to thank you for this purchase. As you will find out in the coming chapters, this purchase will hopefully turn out to be one of the best buys you have done in a while.

Have you ever had a pet, a dog preferably? Regardless of whatever purpose you have it for, be it guarding or for mere leisure, you must have noticed one thing very peculiar about dogs. When given the right training, they grow up to be masters at obeying commands. The right whistle can make them scoot across the room towards you. The right word has the potential to make them sit, bark and roll over when given. Your brain is a dog. It needs to be mastered and regulated. It needs to be shaped and trained the right way for it to be able to obey your commands and wishes. This book is specially written with the intention of providing you with all such ways in which you can efficiently provide your mind the requisite training.

Surely, there must be instances during your average day when you forget something really important. You all have certain tasks that need to be performed and fulfilled during this average day. Of course, not all of you must be mindful enough to keep a mental track of what has been accomplished and what remains to be. We are all humans, not machines. We have a brain that though is highly functional and efficient in itself, tends to miss out on things despite how trivial they may be. The book aims at helping you when it comes to controlling your brain so as to guide it towards a lifelong efficiency potential.

Let us then, without further ado, head out on this journey, which promises to be not just instructive but also inspirational and educational.

    Chapter 1: What is Memory?

Welcome to the first chapter of the book. This chapter has been meticulously designed to help you grasp a rough understanding of how your brain functions and what exactly is memory.

You must have heard the word ‘memory’ being used casually in daily life. The usage of the word ‘memory’ is usually restricted to referencing to being able to recall something. It is generally used while making statements like ‘’I am losing my memory’’, ‘‘my memory is fading’’, ‘‘it escapes my memory as to where I kept my car keys’’. While such a usage is not incorrect, this chapter will help you gain a biological and a much more compartmental understanding of the human memory.

Before advancing further into the anatomy of your memory, let us first help you guess how your memory looks like to an imaginary astronaut who happens to travel into your brain. First off, imagine a great castle, with its portcullis drawn down and its windows shattering against a raging wind. For miles there is no other castle in sight. Now imagine walking into this castle through the portcullis that threatens to rattle down having been battered in the wind. As you enter this castle, you find to your right and left huge oak doors flanking the perimeter. You wonder what they are and are tempted to look into each of these doors before your eyesight is blinded by a flash of light that derives its source from the middle hall of the castle, which is situated half a mile from where you are standing. You tend to get drawn towards this source of light, but are unable to reach it despite it seeming like you are walking toward it in great strides. You decide to give up on the venture and walk around the hall, attempting to peep into the doors, which, to your dismay refuse to open.

The castle is your brain, the blinding light source is everything you have learned in your life and the doors are mere guardians of large rooms that contain your memories. In simple words, your experiences are stored in the middle of your brain that are so intense and vast in magnitude that you seem unable to grasp its measure. The wooden doors hide behind them the passageways to your memories, i.e. everything that you are supposed to remember. All you have to do is wrench open the doors to gain access to your memory. Illustrated above is a fantasy description of how your brain works.

Whenever you experience something, regardless of how insignificant it be, you tend to store it inside the brain, which then directs it to the middle. Imagine every tiny little thing you have seen, heard, smelled or tasted in your life. The sum total of everything is stored in the middle. It is this region of your brain that you cannot even dream about gaining access to. However, what you can definitely reach out for is what is behind the wooden doors. The castle, i.e. your brain allows you to open these doors and utilize the maximum out of what your memory potential as a human being is. All you have to do is grab the chance and open the doors. This book’s objective is to teach you how to open these doors the quickest, smartest and safest.

After that fantasy world tour, let us now step into the real world and see how the real brain works. No scientist or biologist has so far successfully decoded how the human brain works. The grander and magnificence of the human brain is such that even those studying the human body haven’t been able to decipher the secrets it holds after years of researching and attempting. Despite the task of understanding the human brain being so tedious and unachievable, a rough blueprint can definitely be laid down.
