A Walk with God: A Lifetime Journey
Author

Beverly Keene

As a Christian, I began to seek more about hearing from the Lord. This is some of the ways that He has inspired me to think and feel toward getting His message out to others. I have been a Christian for forty years, and every day becomes more unique in what I call a walk with God.  I was raised in southwest Virginia, in a place known as Grundy, where coalfields are the main supplier of jobs. My father and husband were both coal miners. This is a place where you can live a quiet life and feel that friends and family will always be there to help. Being the granddaughter of a minister, I have learned about the Lord all of my life from our family. We have been greatly blessed by receiving a spiritual heritage.

    Chapter One

Looking to be Inspired by Letting The Lord Use Our Voice

H ave we ever thought about what the word inspired means? Do we really know how you become inspired? The word inspiration means breathed upon by God to have been given the trust to write down His Word. The holy men of the bible were so entrusted to write everything down in scrolls so that we would have access to His Word that was given to them. To be inspired to write, or creation of art, to creating in any way is given to us through the touch of God upon us. Reading the scriptures of God will inspire us to learn of God’s ways helping us to understand his meaning behind each passage that has been written in the holy bible. As the Lord alone gives to us divine inspiration he teaches us of His will, but we must choose to walk th erein.

When looking out into the daylight we can see plainly, nothing out there will cause us to stumble because all things are seen not covered by darkness. But if we choose to walk in darkness of understanding, then we are blind even in the daylight stumbling on the hidden stones and things not readily seen to our eyes, this is called Spiritual blindness. Having Spiritual blindness may lead us to have deaf ears in the Spiritual realm preventing us from hearing the word of God as He speaks to us. Listening to understand His word, as revealed to us though Spiritual hearing of his voice to our ears which have been opened to Him. This helps to bring us into a greater relationship with Jesus, as He begins to teach us about Himself and His divine word. Jesus Christ is the living Son of GOD JEHOVAH, Jesus alone can open the deaf ears to hear and make the blind eyes to see. He is able to heal all sickness and manners of diseases within our bodies from the inside out by healing of the soul, mind and physical heart.

The walk of an inspirational Christian is given by God through his guidance and his touch. A personal relationship with Him develops while reading his word and seeking to have Him inspire us. We may also look to have Jesus touch us through our prayers and by His presence which is always around us. Allowing Jesus to be our guide which takes us through his word will teach us how to praise him in a more perfected way toward Him.

Letting The Lord Use our Voice

A must as a Christian is learning to let the Holy Spirit use our voice to help inspire others. Having him working through us to win to win lost souls to God. Ask of ourselves how may I be of use for the Lord to speak through me? Words, pictures, ways of creativity will sometimes reveal what the Lord wishes to say. Jesus came into this world to do the work of His Father, opening up deaf ears to hear the word of God and making blinded eyes to see the truth that was before them. He came to fulfill the Father’s will in shedding of his blood for our sins. We are known as sheep which has gone astray and Christ is our Shepherd who came to find us. We should speak, act and portray ourselves to others in a way of letting the Lord speak through us. We should be great witnesses for the Lord in our daily walk for him being accountable to him for our actions and words which we speak.

The most awesome thing we can do is be ready to speak out for the Lord, he will place the words to speak in our mouth as we serve him. We should offer praise to Jesus for being the Almighty Savior, who leads us in this walk. Witness to the lost people in this world to win them unto the Lord, by letting them see our walk with Jesus. How may we ask do we know when the Lord wishes to speak through us? Something may happen to us in a place where another person is, so we may start a conversation. Before we realize what has happened we find ourselves talking about the bible. We may even start talking about how we became a Christian. Then before long we will ask them if they know Jesus as their Lord and Savior? This may be the way the Lord will use us to speak to others. Sometimes we may be meeting with other Christians, we may begin feeling the Holy Spirit come over us in a way that will make us nervous, or to feel as though we should say something. This may be another way of knowing the Lord wishes to speak through us.

In the book of Matthew chapter 10:16-20 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; 18. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. 19. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.(K J V Bible).

We should allow the Holy Spirit move through us. We may start to speak out, but the Holy Spirit will fill our mouths with the Lord’s words. Our voice may be the one to lead a lost person to the Lord and by refusing to speak could mean their blood upon our hands when we stand in God’s judgment.

    Prayer

Precious Lord Jesus, many times we are in such a hurry that we do not slow down to hear your sweet voice as you speak to us. We are filled with many distractions that take away our attention from you. Help us to feel your Presence around us at all times becoming aware of the Holy Spirit giving us the comfort and joy that we so desperately need in these days of woe that we are facing. May we become more humble to speak out in ways of encouragement to others, as we are led by you Lord Jesus. Let our mouth be a spokesman for thee O Lord Jesus filled with thy praises and songs in worship of you giving out the warnings sent to us.

Let us be willing to create, giving back to you in our writings or art as you have inspired us to create. We pray O Lord Jesus, to fill us with your Spirit, so we walk in a way that when we are seen by others, Your Spirit will shine forth through us. Lord use us as a vessel of praise, of love and of purity that we will be pleasing before thee. Use us as your spokesman that we may write the words or speak the words you’ve given us to help others. O LORD, we pray that we are always willing to be led by you and found doing thy work, so that we stray not from the paths of righteousness that you have placed our feet upon. Fill us with Thy Holy Spirit, so we all shine forth as silver, and gold in thy love that you have placed deep within your children Lord Jesus we pray in thy name Amen.

    Chapter Two

    God’s Message Is Sent

G od gives a message to everyone sending it in many different ways. It may be through ministers, evangelists, or teachers. He may also Himself speak to us in a way revealing that it is Jesus who speaking to us. God’s main message to us is written in the holy bible given us many years ago. Jesus tells us about the main message everyone needs to know the most in the book of John. John 6:44-47 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day. 45. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46. Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. 47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.(K J V Bible)

This message will go out to all men, women and children. Jesus draws us to him by the power of God the Father who speaks to our heart. This love of a Savior will make a call to us personally asking permission to enter into our heart. Salvation will only come by accepting Jesus as our personal Savior. There can be no other way into the kingdom of heaven. God sent this message from the foundation of the world. In every scripture we read has a message of His hand that brings us out of despair into life of eternal rest.

A message of salvation came through God’s Son Jesus who came to die for all mankind, to keep us from the deception of satan’s lies. He cleanses us from all sins that we have in this fleshly body, so we become spiritually born again. Accepting Jesus into our life letting him lead us with the Holy Spirit, who takes up his abode in our heart saves us from sin. This can only happen when the Father draws us to the Son, we start seeking for answers when we are ready, then the Lord deals with our heart. In a broken humbled state of mind and with a broken heart we cry out for forgiveness for all our sins. A change will then take place in us, letting us know we have been forgiven.

There is another message sent to those who refuse Jesus as their Savior. These who continue walking in their sins and refuse to accept Him as the Son of God will be forever in darkness cast into a place of torment called hell. They will be forever lost, kept from the presence of God the Father and Jesus His Son to be placed in total darkness and torment forever. Jesus will hear the sinners that truly call out to him in deep sorrow for their sins, He will answer them as they call upon his name. His message is beautiful in songs of worship and in the praise we give back to Him for all that he has done for us, by letting us walk fully in His Spirit as it leads us to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, as he seeks those to worship him. We worship the Father and the Son by the Holy Spirit that dwells within our hearts. His Spirit alone can lead us to know what truth really is.

Accepting Jesus as our Savior will give us his peace and His love to endure this race that we must run here on earth. Are we hearing the message that God is sending out to us? How long has it been since we had a talk with the Lord? God wants us to seek him out, hearing as he speaks to us. We must desire to have a beautiful relationship with God. He is not a God that is far away, he is right in front of us just as though we were talking to a person we could see. He touches us by giving us His time through out every part of the day. What could be more wonderful than giving our time to him? Taking time to hear the messages, feeling God’s presence around us and letting Him lead us to a special and wonderful place in His Spirit, enlightens us to be a stronger Christian full of faith for Him.

    Chapter Three

    Gods’ Warnings

H ow we ever felt as though we shouldn’t be in a certain place at a certain time? Maybe we feel some uneasiness, or something just wasn’t right. These may be warnings given to us from God letting us know that we could be in danger. Through different times in our life; we experience warning signals of danger and not just in the physical sense. Each day warning signs are given to us, receiving them depends on how we are able to understand what they are. God gives us a warning when we are out of the ark of safety. He shows us through signs and by signals which he gives to all of his children for them to turn again into his safe keeping. Warnings of Jesus’ return is showing up more and more, as we search the scriptures for his return. Many signs are already happening which Jesus told us would come to pass before His return. Wars and rumors of wars have been going on for years calling out peace only to have wars, this has been happening ever since we can rem ember.

Now earthquakes in diver’s places are happening around the world, we have famines across our lands, storms that seem to happen quickly without warning, all these things must take place before the Lord is to return and is happening now. Jesus said, when we see these things happening know that his time is near, even at hand when he could return for his bride. Written in the Holy Bible in the book of Matthew chapter 24, Jesus speaks of these signs to us, he also speaks of taking heed that no one deceives us. Some people like to claim that they are speaking out the word of God having some special new way to worship Him. Some will take the scriptures turning them around to gain crowds of followers, using their influence to persuade others to follow them. They will speak with easy words, or comforting phrases to make everything appear to be accepted into heaven. But Jesus said to believe upon Him, walk in His Spirit and to be taught of Him alone.

We may learn from other people, while learning to listen, but God will never go against his Holy Word, which was given to us through the prophets of old. Deceivers will twist the word to make it sound different from the original message that was given. In other words they may take some scriptures turning them around to place their own meaning upon them. How we can avoid being deceived is to study the Holy Word of God being ready to give an account for ourselves. When God talks of being deceived, he speaking of his children, we should know His truth and His word, planting it within our hearts and deep into our minds. In the King James Version Bible in the book of Ephesians chapter five and in the sixth verse it says Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Hearing Jesus’ sweet voice as he talks with us obeying His commands will keep us from being deceived. When men and women add to, or take from the word of God, they change the true meaning of His Word that was given. The book of Revelation tells us what will happen to those that do this. (K J V Bible), In the book of Revelation chapter twenty two verses 17-21. And the Spirit of the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athrist come. And whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely. 18. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of this prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him plagues that are written in this book: 19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Be very careful of accepting vain words which are spoken out into our ears as truth, saying that it is found in the bible. We are to search the scriptures for ourselves knowing the scriptures as they are written in the Bible. Placing them in our minds and hearts to remember as the Holy Spirit brings them back into remembrance. We should not to be deceived by others, asking Jesus to reveal Himself to us through his word showing us the true meaning of the scriptures spoken by others. People use their influence to try and change the meaning of God’s word, into their own meanings, accepting things which are against the will of God, by accepting all kinds of religious beliefs.

They take idols into their homes used in worship of witchcraft, opening up doors that lead to destruction of families and homes through demonic possession. Many people are searching for answers, those who deceive them will be held accountable for what they claimed as the word of God. We have a responsibility in teaching our children about the true word of God. Leading them to Christ through the Holy inspired word of God, learning it for ourselves, so we can train up our children to walk in a pleasing way to the Lord. As we see the things taking place around us to cause destruction and we can no longer walk down the streets in safety, when ministers teach us to no longer fear of the Lord; we can see the time of Jesus’ return is very close even at the door. Taking close heed to the warnings that God gives, will keep us aware of his Spirit at all times. For He is preparing to meet His bride and He is a jealous God. He will not give place to idols; neither will he accept deception through lying minister’s tongues which refuse to speak His truth. These are known as false prophets speaking out against the will of God, instead of telling the truth as God reveals it to them. Hear the Word of the Lord that is being spoken out to us searching out the scriptures and testing the Spirit to see if it came from God. Let no man deceive us through their vain speeches and smooth talking. Keeping our Spiritual ears open to hear at all times, for Jesus to reveal Himself to us. Take much heed to warnings that God is giving to this nation and to each one who lives here on this earth. God will not be second to anything, He will be first in our heart; or he will not live there.

    Chapter Four

Words We Take In And Words We Speak Out

C ommunication can be with words, either spoken, or written, or in actions. Some of the words we speak are usually spoken to impress others, or to degrade others. This can be true with the types of books we read and in the actions we use while speaking to others. All of the words we take in are stored somewhere in the mind. We must learn to spring clean the mind regularly in order to rid our minds of the most hurtful or degrading ones. Every word we store in our memory will show up though our speech if we not very careful. Storing up words that have hurtful meanings will hurt others, while storing up encouraging words will encourage others and so on. This is also in the types of movies, music and games on computers that we all listen to while watching or playing. We must be on guard against the enemy who will try to plant these kinds of seeds into our minds through disrespectful words.

We as Christians have a unique way of discarding the bad and keeping the good. We are able to filter through the words, asking help of the Lord to take all of the hard disrespectful words away dwelling on the good things and not the bad. After hearing a word we process it in our minds and come to the meaning of the word that was spoken we either decide to keep this word, or cast it out of our minds. It is not an easy task to do, but with the help of the Lord we are able to select which words we want to hear. Selection of a book may tell us of how a person likes to read either of romance, fictional books, or nonfictional books. The type of meaning the book carries may tell a lot about the person that reads them. Some people are so serious that a novel of complete romance seem silly to them, while others may find romance is the only thing for themselves to read. Some people enjoy long novels, while others just want a short story to read, but in every book we pick up there are messages sent to the mind. How we take in the words written inside of the book, can also affect how we speak, or act because of these words. For an example if we are constantly reading history, watching about history on television, hearing of places to visit on vacation that re-enacts history; then a person will mostly talk of history having a lot of knowledge about the subject.

If a Christian will soak in the Word of God, instead of listening to deception through television soap stories and radio drinking songs, then we would have more knowledge of God, being able to share the history of His love that has been given to us all the way through creation. The type of words that we dwell upon should be words that the Lord wants us to say. In the (KJV Bible) in the book of Psalms chapter 68: 11 The LORD gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. The way we publish the word may be in written form, or in spoken form. We can read it, or we can speak it out to others to have it published in our minds. This will help to spread God’s word getting his message out to others. Talk is cheap, but when it has a true message behind it, there is more to talk than wasted breath. God will not give us a message that is just to waste our time and his. He will give us something to say that has depth and meaning behind it. God’s message is warnings to those that are still lost, or encouragement to his children that can be uplifting to their spirits. Every word that is taken in and that we speak out should have a meaning behind it.

Our words should make a statement about the message of love from God; or to have a warning about disobedience that is against God’s Will. Words touches us in love, joy, sadness, comfort and can be uplifting or dragging down. But we must all be accountable for the words we speak to another person. Even in the prayers we pray, for how we speak to God in our prayers can be a message for us to learn by. The heavenly books are kept and every word is written down to be remembered just as we spoke them. We learn by the deep messages which give literal meanings, or in the hidden meanings, but we all send them to others.

We should be able to speak as we are led to speak and keep silent when we feel that we have nothing good to say. We should be led by God to speak out the word with great meaning and taking in the words spoken that have true meaning behind them. This is how we can manage our thoughts and speech for God. Let us walk in the ways of truth and honesty not speaking out vain unwise words to others, but speaking in faith and with guidance words spoken in our Spirit by God to help encourage uplifting those we have contact with. We all have something to say, letting the words we say be worthy of how we can learn to be more like Jesus and less like our flesh. Words are powerful and the messages sent may help others, or discourage others. I for one want only to give out a message which God guides me to say, living as close to Him and speaking the words which He gives learning from Him alone, so I may be accountable to words of good meaning; instead of having to face words of hate and mistrust. Judgment is before us, living in the center of the will God will help us have a clean garment when facing him. The only words I would like to hear in the place of judgment, is well done good and faithful servant. Pretending to walk in the will of God is seen by Him, he knows if we are truly walking with Him, or against His will. The kinds of words we take in and speak out reflect the true self.

    Chapter Five

    Listening Is The Key

W e hear things said but may not have heard exactly what was said. This is where we need to fully listen with complete attention to answer the other person we may be talking with. How often do we hear a question that has been asked by someone and we answer in a way the other person knows we were only half listening to their question? The true test of how people respond to us is how they are listening to what we have to say. This is also true in how we listen to hear what is being said to us from another. Listening is key to having a good relationship with others, to show true friendship and concern is to learn to be a good listener. Some people are not considered to be a good listener, when they have trouble hearing, or when they show unconcern for others. This may not always be the case for some people are not able to grasp certain sounds or words just right due to hearing impairment. There are those who are only interested in themselves not listening to anything that we have to say. They speak their minds and go on about their business just as if we had nothing to say. When talking with others, we should listen hearing what they are saying, as well as how we speak to them. Listening to the truth can hurt our feelings; but the truth will always set us free from the bondage of sins that try to entrap us. The old saying is the truth hurts. Why do we think it hurts? Because it will show us the lust of the flesh that comes into our mind leading us away from the true purpose of what God has planned for us. The truth can impact our lives helping us become better in living a closer walk with God. The truth will show us what we keep in fleshly thoughts as sin setting us free from those kinds of thoughts. We will be encouraged in ways which will help us to grow in our Spiritual walk.

God has already seen the very intents of our heart. How we think about what others are saying to us helps us to become a key listener, one who truly wishes to change themselves for the better. When people turn deaf ears to us usually means they are not ready to hear what we have to say to them. Sometimes hearing comes better from the actions we show them, actions can speak directly to the heart showing a person just how much they mean to us through hugs and through simple acts of kindness. Actions may also reveal a deceiver as well. A deceiver will tell us lies this can show up in their actions as well. Listening goes both ways how we hear and what they hear, drawing near unto God is done with the intents of the heart which are spoken out daily to him in prayer. This creates a very personal relationship with God and in a very intimate way. What if we were always talking to God, but he was never listening to what we had to say? How would we feel toward Him? God is always listening to every word that is spoken and seeing everyone on this earth, but not everyone is listening to what He has to say.

God hears the righteous cries of His children answering their cries, but a sinner God does not hear, until they cry out to be saved from their sins with a complete broken heart, filled with sorrow for what they have done. This can only happen when God deals with the sinner’s heart and reveals to them that they are sinners. God wants us to be humble before Him to place our needs into his hands. Fully trusting in Him to protect us from all of the evil and deception of satan that comes against us. Knowing within our hearts that God will deliver us from it all. The main key that will open the doors of understanding to wisdom is to hearing the direction in which God wants us to walk. Some thoughts are given to us in ways we usually do not think upon, these thoughts are either good or evil.
