To anyone searching for an appropriate poem for a church newsletter or bulletin, permission for that use is granted. I have written numerous newsletters myself, as well as created bulletins in the past, and have experienced the blessings of others who graciously shared their works with me.

Preface
Blessings come in many ways to those who believe and place their trust in God. Many beautiful songs were written over the years that continue to be printed in hymnals, providing hope, joy, and comfort, as well as peace in times of sadness or distress. These hymns are God’s gift to us, given through the hearts and hands of man.
God brings personal blessings to me, providing comfort and inspiration through poetry. Some poems included in Poems of the Heart speak of experiences in my life or in those of my family and friends. He has also given me joy in writing about the simplest things, as well as in the beauty of His majesty.
People in our early lives have a profound effect on us as children, shaping our personalities and helping to pattern our future. I am grateful for each one that has influenced me: my mother, my grandmother, and other family members who kept their faith in God through difficult times and in the good.
God has inspired me to write on various topics, including stories from the Bible, and has given me a much greater awareness of everyday blessings. For, it is not I who created the poems, but rather God speaking to my heart. He also gave me a poem expressing that entitled God Gives Us Talents.
Several of the poems included are based on messages given by my pastor and other speakers whom I have heard. I particularly would like to express my deepest appreciation to my pastor, Rev. Garry Taylor, who prayed with me for God’s guidance; my daughter, Rachel, for providing honest critique; my friends and family for inspiration and support; as well as my longtime friends from the sheriff’s office, who were among those inspiring me to write.
More than all, I thank the Lord above who gave me the words He would have me share with you. I pray that God will speak to your heart as He has spoken to mine.
Sincerely,
Joy Gallagher
