About this ebook

It was never Rolan's fault. Born into a world where role models seem not to exist. Going through so much at a young age made him grow up with his heart down. Too young to understand but too smart not to realize something Daddy was doing wasnt right. His mother's name was Stacy Johnson, and his father's name was Rodney Williams. The struggle and pain of Stacy and Rodney had growing up made it difficult to raise Rolan. The streets of Chicago are a beast, and the only beauty of it is surviving and staying strong.

B aby Rolan was born into a world where it was too cold for his feet. His mother’s name was Stacy Johnson, and his father’s name was Rodney Williams. They were together three years prior to Rolan being born.

The streets of Chicago were really rough for Stacy and Rodney growing up. They became lovers in high school and felt unbreakable ever since. Stacy had plans to pursue nursing after high school, and Rodney felt as though college wasn’t for everybody. See, Rodney grew up hard in the streets of Chicago. All he knew was selling dope and living the fast life. Rodney’s daddy was killed when he was thirteen due to the drug game. Rodney was raised by his uncle, who was one of the biggest drug dealers in the city. Rodney witnessed his uncle get robbed and shot in the head at the age of fifteen. Rodney, now fresh in high school, lived with his gang brothers with the mindset of dope boys and the conscious of killers.

Stacy was attracted by the bad-boy, dope-boy role. She loved the fact that Rodney was in high school and had money as though he worked a full-time job. See, Stacy grew up in a home where her grandma, named Roe, had to play the momma and daddy roles. Her father never was there—hell, all Stacy knew about him was that he went to prison for numerous robberies and assaults. Grandma Roe had to raise Stacy due to her mom choosing to prostitute and give the streets all her time. Grandma Roe hated the fact that Stacy’s mom turned out to be absent from Stacy’s life like her dad was. She felt it was bad enough that Stacy had to grow up without a father, and now she had to witness her mother falling victim of the streets too. Stacy loved and respected Grandma Roe with a passion. She hated the fact that her mom and dad had done her like that.

Right before high school Stacy found out her mom had been raped and killed. She really didn’t feel any remorse but still hated the fact that she didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to her mom. After her mom got killed, it really brought darkness on Grandma Roe. Stress and bills made her sick. Grandma Roe never showed Stacy that she was down, but deep down Stacy knew her grandma was getting sick.

During Stacy’s senior year in high school, she had a day she would never forget. It was third period. One of the school’s secretaries called Stacy to the principal’s office.

The principal approached Stacy, put her hand on Stacy’s shoulder, and said, "Baby, I’m sorry to tell you this, but we got word from the hospital that one
