Heirs Together: A Daily Devotional for Married Couples
()
About this ebook
Jacqueline James-London
Jacqueline was raised in a family where morning devotions were a daily occurrence, having been born just a few months prior to her parents becoming evangelical Christians. She made her own decision to become a committed Christian at the age of fifteen. Her love for reading and study characterized her childhood and teenage years and led to her tertiary education at the University of the West Indies. While there, she was secretary of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship for two consecutive years and, to this experience, credits her passion for communicating to the world the importance and relevance of personal devotion to the Word of God in daily living. Jacqueline has been married to her husband, Mark, for the past twenty-six years, and together they raised three children in the district of Diego Martin in the Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago. However, her first son and second offspring, Adhriel, went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2011, at the age of twenty-two. Jacqueline has recently retired as a high school mathematics teacher and currently pursues her passion for writing and preparing Christian education material to be used by Christian educators in schools, community, and church groups, and by families on the whole. She also writes gospel tracts. Heirs Together is her first publication.

On target and good, very good. It points to some of the real issues that people face. What I like about it is how the Word is used appropriately.

Introduction
I was in the middle of a meeting on my job, when my phone vibrated. I saw it was my husband. This has to be important,
I thought. I left the room to take the call.
Hello,
I said, expecting anything from a broken main to some act of terrorism.
I just wanted to tell you,
my beloved spouse said excitedly, That Benny Hinn is back with his wife!
I could not believe it. That he would interrupt my meeting to give me that news. Later at home when I asked how could he do such a thing he replied: Well I know you are the ‘wife lady’, you always want to know these things.
I thought he was being absurd, but long afterward when I took up this manuscript and reflected on why did I write this book? I realized he was not too far off target. You see I get genuinely heart broken when I hear of divorces, terribly unhappy marriages, long separation and the like. I often wonder if they could have been avoided. Sometimes I feel pain and hurt for the loss of what could have been.
This book is not so much about marriage as it is about building of relationship. I believe the greatest enemy of a loving relationship is expectation. All of us have expectations of which we are not conscious. Two people with two different backgrounds would always have differing expectations. When expectations are not realized, the next enemy of loving relationships takes control-selfishness. Selfishness occurs when each person focuses on his or her own needs. It is seeking the interest of a part instead of the whole.
I am a firm believer in the fact that the Scriptures have the answers for all situations in life. It is a timeless book. I am
