She has earned a bachelor of theology from Maranatha College, answering the call to the male correctional facilities where she has ministered faithfully for over eight years. Ann has been married for thirty-four years, has a son, two daughters, and a fourth child who is waiting patiently in Heaven, and has gained a daughter and son through marriage. She also has three beautiful granddaughters.

    PREFACE

    Is a book on joy profitable? Is it because joy is a necessary tool to have as we live in this age we are in—this end of the age? Does joy help each of us triumph over tribulation—not just survive it, but in order to be more than a conqueror? Is joy even available to live a good life, a fulfilled life? Is there only one source for joy?

    Is joy truly that crucial?

    The world’s system is in chaos, as those who read newspapers and watch the nightly news are repeatedly told! Aren’t they being barraged with stories of tribulation by those who, perhaps, don’t choose joy?

    Is it even reasonable to expect joy in a lost and dying world?

    The answer to all these serious questions is Yes!

    If you want to increase your joy, or come to learn that joy is a choice, read on. See joy in small things, lovely things; see joy that overcomes pain, sorrow and death.

    Read and learn the source of joy—the only source. Consider examples in this book and see that joy is a choice—and it is always the right choice as you exercise the measure of faith God has given all people.

    If you don’t know the Author and Creator of joy, come meet my Jesus and make Him your Jesus!

    When I first saw Mallory Ann Marchio’s (my daughter) drawing, I immediately caught the symbolism of it. To me, there is no artwork that could better capture the significance of Jesus’ work on the cross than the purple background, representing royalty; the cross filled with Christ’s blood, freely given; the white rose, representing the repentant sinner—now a saint. It truly is the most beautiful artistic representation I have ever seen of God’s redemptive plan for mankind…

    Christians are declared by their Father, through His Son’s work, as worthy to approach His throne boldly, without shame and with total acceptance.

    I will say it again—τετέλεσται—It is finished.

    SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS

    2 CHRONICLES 3:10-14

    For the Most Holy Place he made a pair of sculptured cherubim and overlaid them with gold. The total wingspan of the cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long and touched the temple wall, while its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the other cherub. Similarly one wing of the second cherub was five cubits long and touched the other temple wall, and its other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the first cherub. The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, facing the main hall. He made the curtain of blue, purple and crimson yarn and fine linen, with cherubim worked into it.
