About this ebook

This is a unique approach to becoming a better, more loving, and stronger You.

WORD(S), Volume 1 is a collection of contemporary poems with unique perspectives written by author Christopher O. James as a self-help study guide for teens and adults. The poetry, which stands alone as engaging literature, is combined with scriptures to guide the reader in further bible study and journal pages to write down prayers and the readers own reflections. Through creative poetry James offers an unrestrained look at real life, relationships, faith, failure, forgiveness, confidence, truth, salvation, fun, benevolence and Jesus Christs love. Challenging and inspiring poetry encourages readers to build a more committed, faithful and genuine personal relationship with God and raises the bar on the standard to love others.

Awesome

Awesome sounds fresher than amazing,
But both describe just how you are.
Courageous is what you have made me.
Despite all my battle scars.
Each time I come to you with a problem,
Forever you promise to solve them.
Given my tendency to fall into sin,
How does your holiness offer forgiveness again?
Its your love, so compassionate, complete and true.
Jesus brought grace and paid justice as a gift to the living.
Kindness in action, well beyond what man would do.
Love from God is so enduring, merciful and forgiving

    Invisible Race

God save me from the typical day,

Where I spend my life in the usual way.

Cause me to see outside of my personal space.

Let me see the faces of the invisible race.

Let me touch those lives that

    I choose not to know.

Lord, you yearn for me to notice.

    What am I waiting for?

    Impure and unlovely as

    We all happen to be,

Let me reach out to those

That I choose not to see.

We are homeless, helpless, abandoned, abused.

Seems there’s no end as we prey on each other.

    Suicidal, addicted, rejected, confused.

None of us is so different from another.

God loves each of us sinners.

No matter our sin, lot or distance.

We all fall short of holy,

And He calls us each to repentance.

    Worth is not measured

By what I choose to see.

Lord, let the people you love

    Matter much more to me.

    No longer resembling

    The invisible race,

Let me see the lives worth loving,

    With compassion and grace.

    Remember God’s mercy

    And the cross at Calvary.

We are all counted in number

    With the least of these.

    How can I look away

    From the faces in need

    When Jesus gave His life

    To serve someone like me?

You and Jesus together, bound by love like no other, know the

Zenith of our purpose and power is to be clay in the hands of our Heavenly Father.

    To See Her Again

Sometimes it is still hard to believe.

This certainly was her time of year.

With Mom gone, we are not sure how to begin.

Things seem so out-of-place and different today,

Although it has been some time since she went heaven.

At times, we miss her so much.

We would give up a world of things to see her again.

I can almost hear Mom say in her charitable way,

Dear, that’s enough of that kind of talking.

"Honey, what’s all this crying about?

My home is in heaven on the holiest of ground.

I’m dancing with your Grandma and praising the Lord,

I’m somewhat surprised you can’t hear the sound."

"You know that ever since you were a child,

This is what we were always talking about.

Worshiping Jesus in heaven on streets of gold,

With angelic choirs flying all around, in and out."

"Though, I know, you’ll shed a tear or two.

Please do not try to wish me away from here.

Celebrate my example so when your time is set,

You will also be with me, my Dear."

So, I pulled some old photos out of a box,

And we passed them around for a while.

It is pleasantly surprising to feel our joy rising.

The pictures helped to us recall reasons to smile.

I know Mom is looking down on us,

Seeing all of her grandchildren so mature and grown.

It is no wonder that they are who they are,

Considering all of the examples God has shown.

And I know that one the people God used,

Well, Mom, I know one of them was you.

Your own children are not perfect, but we are trying.

From our youth, we learned what we should and should not do.

Thanks for all of the love and memories.

And thanks Mom, for giving us boundaries.

You are a blessed Christian example for us.

You taught us that Jesus is who we all need.

Dad, you know, he misses you too.

And we will continue to love him for you.

Dad is such a constant blessing to us

And he never runs out of loving things do.

So, we will go on being faithful and true

To the example of Jesus that you let shine through.

Now, Jesus is our loving, faithful, and holy Savior.

Just like what Grand Daddy and Grandma taught you.

We celebrate the blessed days of the past.

And we will celebrate each new day to our last,

For the goodness and mercy of our God.

He made a way for us through Jesus Christ.

And I know that one day when we are in heaven.

We will have so many more things to share.

We will walk the shiny streets of heaven’s gold

As we praise our Lord without a worry or care.

Please say hello to my wife’s Dad too.

I am so glad that he is with you in God’s hallowed halls.

Such joy and wisdom his daughter brings.

Without her, love would not mean anything at all.

    Now, blessed assurance means more

Because you know it is in God we trust.

We are thankful for the time He let us share,

Your love, care and how you fussed over us.

We do not understand it all.

And we all miss you terribly.

But we do know God, you see.

And we are assured He loves us,

    Faithfully,

    Completely,

    Mercifully,

    And lovingly.

Still, sometimes it is hard to believe,

This certainly was your time of year.
