    An optimist who is firmly led by the mantra outlined in Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” NKJV is La-Toya Arthur-Tucker. She is Guyanese by birth; jovial, friendly, adventurous, outspoken and happy child of God who loves participating in activities that will uplift the downtrodden and bring joy to the broken hearted. La-Toya was awarded a BSc., (Hons) in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Northern Caribbean University and is currently reading for her MSc. in Counselling Psychology with an emphasis in Education having received a scholarship. As a budding Educational Psychologist, she uses her experiences to show others that success can be achieved by anyone who has determination and a vision. Her personal, practical experience encouraged her to write liberally of her daily motivations; which she has used to empower others to achieve their dreams and goals. Her spiritual background serves as a constant reminder of who she is and where she desires to go. It is no surprise therefore that she is fueled by the promise scripted in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” La-Toya Arthur-Tucker is a true inspiration.

      When La-Toya Arthur-Tucker asked me to write the foreword for this book entitled Achieving Success: Never Give Up! I immediately accepted. I must admit that I was intrigued and challenged. I was intrigued because I saw La-Toya—a young intelligent, professional whose life experiences were the embodiment of the theme of her book and challenged because part of her book title Never Give Up was part of my mother’s last words which sunk deep within my sub-consciousness and fuelled my drive and passion for life, living and service. La-Toya and I shared so much in common and she knew that driven by my Mother’s last words Never Give Up, Never Stop Praying, God Will Always Provide, I was catapulted into the hope of a brighter future. I set sail in the world of opportunities and have become a success just because of that one phrase, Never Give UP!

      So to write this foreword and recommend this book allows me the privileged position to introduce to you not just this brilliant, young professional author but a concept that, if understood and embraced, will give practical evidence and provide support for your own achievements of paramount success.

      Rather than a compilation of quotations and thoughts about success, this book is a collection of real life experiences by real successful persons whose lives epitomize the title and theme of this book Achieving Success: Never Give Up! With each chapter you will get a chance to learn about the life of triumph experienced by individuals who have succeeded in spite of many odds.       I am fascinated with the fact that this book includes success stories from an array of individuals: university students, lecturers and administrators, entrepreneurs, authors, farmers, trades men, welders, carpenters, singles and couples, parents and children is an indication that whatever your status in life there will be challenges and there is no challenge that cannot be overcome with the right attitude. I am particularly intrigued and fascinated by the display of faith, as each contributing author seeks to own their challenge and recognized that those challenges made them strong. The reality is that the only place that success comes before work is in in the dictionary.

      So if you felt like giving up. If you are at a point in your life where you feel that things are not going well for you right at this moment? If you are about to give up on a relationship, a dream, a project or an aspiration, and if you are being overcome by feelings of regret, remorse or loss, just hold on a little while longer until you read this book.       Introduction

      Many individuals have never and may never attain success because of prohibitive circumstances they face in life. Everything happens for a reason and a purpose that only God knows. A preacher once mentioned that Jesus chooses our battles for us, he further stated that like athletes’ managers Jesus chooses our battles and He certainly would not choose any battle that He knows we would not win. When trials come our way we need to remember that our trial was carefully selected to suit our strengths and abilities to conquer them.
