Steven Sutton

I am a retired service member with over twenty years’ active-duty service in the United States military, serving in the army, army reserves, and the Georgia Army National Guard. During my time in the military, I participated in special military development projects, peacekeeping missions in Haiti, and tours of duty in many foreign countries, including Korea, Australia, and Germany, as well as Hawaii, Guam, Fiji, and many other locations in the Union. I have received many awards for meritorious service and achievements. In 1995, I started working tirelessly with other ministers to establish a Christian church and a school under the United Nations Commanding General in Port Au Prince, Haiti. I worked with other Christian leaders to establish new ministries in the local communities, including several evangelistic teams around the country. I’ve been nominated as soldier of the year, also recognized and awarded for being mentor of the year for three different cities in the Midwest, for working with a youth-development program (Snowball). I have worked with Fulton County, East Point Police Department with troubled youth and West End Academy as a mentor. I am currently serving as presiding prelate of a nondenominational ministry that consists of four churches. I am a father and grandfather and have the privilege of being married to my lovely wife, Angela. I hold several accredited degrees, currently completing a doctoral degree in pastoral community counseling.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I dedicated this book to my lovely wife who stands with me as God continues to work with me and through me. Our goal is to positively affect and influence change in people that leads them to a more glorified presence in God. Additionally, I would like to thank the leaders and parishioners of Shiloh Temple Christian Church and the parishioners of the subordinate ministries under our leadership for their strong support.

    COMMENTS FROM REVIEWERS’ PAGE

Through prayer and extensive research, Bishop Steve Sutton has taken the timely topic of Church Hurt to a new level. The passage which reads, often the people with the deepest wounds go untreated and sometimes may want to back-burner God, indicate that the writing of this book is necessary for such a time as this: (Esther 4:14). Growing up in a church environment, I can easily relate to other statements, which encourage readers to avoid hostile confrontations in resolving church issues. An excellent point made in the chapter titled, Do You Need a Protection Plan? This chapter helps the reader understand that it’s our relationship with Christ that helps us work out issues of hurt in churches. Readers will also find the author’s examples of crisis in his personal life helpful as they can easily relate to their own everyday life issues. I am particularly referring to the incident of the Bike Crash, which led his grandmother’s sage advice: Don’t pick at the scab so that the sore can heal!

To My Brother in Christ, Steve,

May God continue to Bless and Keep you in His service:
