My Choice, My Destiny: My Kidney Transplant Journey
()
About this ebook
Kidney failure, dialysis, and transplantation are three words that most people hope never to hear in their lifetimes. Mina Gonzales wasnt so lucky. In her memoir, she shares the story of her experiences, a story about choices, destiny, and the ultimate sacrifice that gives life. She knows the pitfalls and setbacks one faces when dealing with the realities of dialysis, organ donation, and kidney transplantation. She recalls those here, along with her journey of personal discovery, family strength, and community involvement. She faced trials and tribulations during dialysis but ultimately emerged victorious, having survived a kidney transplant for more than fifteen years.
Her story could be anyones story. Along with her experiences, she focuses on facing the truth about life and recognizing the gift that it is. For anyone facing kidney failure, Gonzales provides the information that you need to know. She addresses not only broad questions of life through the lens of her personal experiences, but also specific questions relating to living with kidney failure: What is dialysis? What types are there? How long is a session?
My Choice My Destiny: My Kidney Transplant Journey is intended to be used as a daily spiritual guide to help get through the long hours of dialysis. It is an honest expression of hope that you too will find your donor angel and live a long and healthy life.
Mina Gonzales
Mina Gonzales is inspired by her husband, two sons, and grandchildren. Her kidney transplant donor is her angel, and her book is dedicated to him and all organ donors who give life. Mina currently lives in California.

About The Author
This book is dedicated to all the kidney transplant patients who come after me. I hope they find solace in my story of kidney transplantation and that they find their rainbow at the end of dialysis and an angel of their own.
25655.jpgFOREWORD
Dedication, determination and a desire to do good by others is the passion that drives Mina Gonzales. Her goal is to provide a guideline for others who suffer or will suffer the same plight as she; kidney failure and finally transplantation.
Mina presents a no holds barred honest approach to sharing her story, her journey from near death to fifteen years as a kidney transplant survivor. Although vulnerable to possible personal retribution, she tells it like it is.
In her book, My Choice, My Destiny: My Kidney Transplant Journey
, Mina shares the not so good days with a fresh outlook to the possible consequences that come with kidney failure. And she shares the good days with a renewed joy and love of life. She presents a bold and determined mental and spiritual understanding of what really was happening, what her options were, possible outcomes and her final victory; a successful kidney transplant.
I encourage all who read this book, whether because you find yourself facing the same heart wrenching life threatening kidney disease, or because you know someone, a family member or close friend who is similarly suffering, that you share this book with them. I guarantee they will gain insight, recognize some of what they are going through and hopefully find solace in knowing that a healthy long life can be had after kidney transplantation and that there is always hope. That is what Mina found out and why she chose to share My Choice, My Destiny: My Kidney Transplant Journey
with you.

Life is a journey, and I believe we are all put on this earth for a purpose.
—Mina Gonzales
I did a lot of soul searching. I feel my breath rising and falling inside my chest, and I can feel my heartbeat. I am new again. I am no longer just walking through my life on autopilot—I am moving with life. I am not the stupid person I believed myself to be.
