Foreword

Apostle Steve Lyston continues to open up our understanding of the connection between the Spiritual and the Natural—even as they relate to global and economic issues. When we hear the word Famine, we immediately picture in our minds a distant nation where the people are toothpick-thin with flies swarming everywhere; it is the kind of picture we have seen for years. However, this book helps its reader to realize that Famine goes beyond that picture and that it has been happening right before our eyes, in our own countries and communities.

Tactics And Strategies For The Famine gives its readers an opportunity to see various issues from a more balanced perspective. It is no secret that what we see happening in the World’s economy today is a great deal of recycling of Schools of Thought posited decades ago, now being put forward as solutions for the problems now being faced. Many of the brightest minds in finance, economics and politics continue to be stumped when it comes to finding solutions we need to bring the world up and out of the abyss into which the nations are collectively falling. Many of their ideas sacrifice our humanity and morals which we need in order to function above the base, animalistic level.

No one wants to admit they do not know what to do to bring about the change that is needed; and in an era of ‘give the people what they want now’, many leaders at all levels have found themselves devoid of answers to give the people, and the people are becoming restive. The world now needs effective strategies and solutions that can bring change and balance to our lives.

This book is timely and brings to light the issues of the day and, through an uncommon approach, gives excellent recommendations of Tactics and Strategies For The Famine. These tactics and strategies, if properly applied, have the potential to bring great changes; and it shows us that there is hope beyond what we see daily.

PREFACE

This book has been written for persons and groups at all levels—Christian and secular groups; heads of states, business people, ambassadors, NGOs and economists. This is Biblical Economics explained.

This book will give you the necessary tactics and strategies for survival in the famine we are now experiencing. We are now seeing a famine for the Word of God. We need the Divine Revelation of God to deal with the global problems the world is now facing.

Food, the Economy, Poverty, Disaster, Water, Global Warming and Real Estate are now hot topics and issues that need immediate attention globally. Great suffering has come about globally because the wrong prescriptions have been written and issued, which has resulted and continues to result in severe wastage—billions are being wasted worldwide, while large companies have been rewarded for their greed and error. All this while the poor continues to suffer and homelessness has reached an all time high!

The cost of basic necessities such as food, water and clothing has gone out of the reach of millions, and unemployment continues to soar.

Administrations continue to play the ‘blame game’ while seated in high places. In the meantime, thousands are dying of hunger. It is time for a reality check.

The written Word of God has the solution for all problems that exist. But leaders and rulers refuse to embrace the wisdom and instruction of God through the Holy Spirit in order to help them solve the problems that exist. This is so while they implement laws in an effort to nullify the wisdom of God from nations and administrations.

Only those who desire to make a change will survive in this current climate that is poised to worsen and trigger famine in other areas. The Holy Spirit is always ready to teach mankind the mysteries of prosperity if we allow Him. (Isaiah 28) He created all things. The economy was created even before man was created. Are we willing to change? Do you want to see a turnaround? Do you really want poverty reduction or eradication?

Then read this and let the change begin!

Introduction

For several years I have been trying assiduously to get the word out to various organizations and nations that there is a famine ahead. The Lord has been speaking clearly to His servants about this but many have closed their ears to the Word of the Lord.

In order to fully understand what lies ahead and what we need to do to endure this impending famine we need to understand what it is, what it entails and how to protect ourselves in such a time.

THE FAMINE

According to the International Famine Center, in an extract from a document entitled The Challenge of Famine by John Osgood Field document entitled ‘What Is Famine’ , from the International Famine Center, Famine may be seen as ¹the regional failure of food production or distribution systems, leading to sharply increased mortality due to starvation and associated disease (Cox 1981, 5) The Oxford Dictionary defines famine as ‘extreme scarcity of food . . . ; hunger, starvation.’ From a Biblical perspective, there are different levels of famine. Each time we see famine take place in a nation, the number one reason is to get the leaders of and the people within a nation to get back to God! It also means that the nation’s leader must then inquire of Him to see why or what the reason is for the famine.

What Causes Famine?

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14, Amos 8: 11 and Psalm 119: 105 let us know that the Word of God gives direction, wisdom for long term plans, success and prosperity in living. It corrects, instructs, leads, and teaches. We are nothing without the Word. Thus, Disobedience of Godly Instructions and a Lack of Knowledge of the Word of God are what cause famine. No leader can lead or manage a nation without understanding the Word of God.

Additionally, in II Chronicles 6 during Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication, he mentions famine in the land and outlines the reason for the famine. Verses 26-28 say:

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance. When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; and their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

Amos 8: 11-12

This Scripture lets us know that famine and drought are two (2) of the punishments meted out to Israel by God. As a result of Israel’s reluctance and unwillingness to accept correction, their punishment is outlined in Amos 4: 6-11 which says,

Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And lack of bread in all your places; yet you have not returned to Me, says the Lord. I also withheld rain from you, when there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, and where it did not rain the part withered. So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, but they were not satisfied; yet you have not returned to Me, says the Lord. I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, your vineyards, your fig trees and your olive trees, the locust devoured them; yet you have not returned to Me, says the Lord. I overthrew some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; yet you have not returned to me, says the Lord.

God used a series of disasters—famine, drought, crop failure, plagues, war, and natural calamity were all used by God to awaken the people to their sins. But regardless of this the Children of Israel did not return.

Different Levels Of Famine

There are different levels of famine that normally take place.

Famine where there is war, crime and violence on the increase!

31439.jpg Famine where the economic system would crash and recession results; this triggers foreclosures, receiverships, massive mergers and stock market crashes! (Revelations 18)

31441.jpg The next one is most dangerous—Famine for the Word of God! (Amos 8: 11) This is where God is silent if they continually refuse to listen to His instruction! At this point, the Lord will neither answer their prayers nor give any solutions!

Understand that Famine includes drought, natural disasters, crop failure, crime and violence—God allows all of these things to awaken the people to their sins! (Amos 4: 6-8)

It is the duty of the heads of the nations to inquire of God, in order to know the cause of the famine that their nation is undergoing; and also to ask of the Lord, What can I do to stop it?

In II Samuel 21: 1, we see that when David’s Administration was suffering a famine for three (3) years, he recognized that it was his duty to seek the Lord on the cause of the famine and God revealed that it was the former Administration that had committed bloodshed and that it was affecting the current Administration and the nation!

Using natural things and changing Ministers around will not stop the famine that is on the nation! Until you truly inquire of God and seek His true servants, that which is currently happening will continue! Only God’s principles can stop the famine in any nation, and all must bow before the true and living God and cry out to the Lord and ask Him to close the doors that were opened by past activities in those previous Administrations! In addition to this, you will have to cut the unholy alliances that were formed.

When this is done, then God will heed the prayer (II Samuel 21: 14) and release the solutions that the nation needs to move forward and lift the famine!

The Effect of Wrong Diagnosis

When a problem arises, correct diagnosis of the situation is imperative. If an inaccurate diagnosis is given then the prescription given will also be incorrect, and result in serious side effects, waste of time and resources, damage to vital organs and can lead to death or debt!

Ultimately, the situation can worsen without the proper remedy of the situation and no healing can take place until the correct diagnosis and treatment is given.

For too long, our economy, social and political systems have been inaccurately diagnosed. As a result, the rising debt problem, crime, violence, garrisons, lack of integrity among certain groups and corruption are not being addressed and corrected. We are even missing the most important issues affecting the nation and its people!

Any doctor will tell you that when there is a fever, there could be several causes, so it is important for them to identify the cause of the fever and then treat both the fever and its cause. If they treat one and do not treat the other then it will recur and possibly an entirely new set of problems may arise.

It is found in John 4: 16-18, that the woman at the well was sleeping with 5 husbands, none of whom were hers. The intellectuals would say that this woman was wicked; others would say she has a disorder; some would say she is an addict and recommend rehabilitation. Still, others would say she has an issue with monogamy, while others would say she was born that way!

Clearly, this diagnosis was inaccurate and the treatment that she would have received would not have dealt with the problem! Jesus recognized that the heart of her problem was the fact that she had multiple belief systems, because her generation served five different gods, and that in itself corrupted her domestic and spiritual lives.

Integrity

There is a cry now for integrity—globally and locally. Most are focusing on politicians as if they are the only ones that require integrity. Politicians are no worse than any other category of persons. It takes more than one to conspire, and so in order to deal with corruption, we have to look on every sector and system. The ‘Pirate’ syndrome which has been taught to us from our youth, where we plunder and rob our people must be broken.

If we should get rid of all the politicians, but leave the syndrome/virus, then things will either continue as is or a new set of problems will arise, including great disasters on the nation.

How to Fix It

All sectors and individuals must unite to address the seemingly difficult issue of famine affecting the nations and also to experience the change that each and all desire.

According to Mark 4: 35-41, when a storm is raging, there is a wave and a wind, so both the wind and the waves can cause damage to land and sea; and there is also the potential for a tsunami—spiritually and naturally. When there is a global transition, there is always a storm that has the potential to spill over into different countries. Jesus did not only address the wind, but he also dealt with the waves.

If He did not address both causes of the storm then one or the other would continue and would give rise to new problems. In the same way, conspiracy and corruption cannot be addressed as singular issues—the root of the problem must be addressed. Both the wind and the waves must connect in order to bring about a storm. Likewise, the root of the corruption and conspiracy need to be dealt with directly before the calm can come.

It is usually more difficult to navigate anytime after November because the Nor’easter is most likely to blow from that time. So it becomes necessary to change course!

Family

Going forward, our family values and our principles will become primary. When people become desperate, they will do anything—take any job for survival! Hence our beliefs, family values and morals will become a thing of the past if they are not upheld.

Many times outsiders see the good and the wealth within our nation, community or household, but we fail to see it. It is time for us to recognize what we have around us and the value of it all.

Governments and Famine

For any nation to be on top, it is imperative that the Heads of Nations begin revisiting their teams of advisors to include those persons under instruction of the Lord our God, as those around them will not be able to interpret and discern Times, Seasons, Dreams and Visions they will be receiving from the Lord.

It is imperative that leaders revisit the set of advisors they have because those that are needed now must have the Governmental Anointing, with strong gifts of Administration to co-ordinate all the activities for solutions that will be coming forth. The Governmental Anointing is a special ability to carry out leadership and Administrative functions effectively and efficiently, with the added capacity of bringing in and implementing timely, accurate solutions for the problems that exist, that order is restored. The Governmental Anointing is exemplified in the Scriptures through men of God such as Joseph (Genesis 37 & 39-50), Nehemiah (The Book of Nehemiah), and Daniel (The Book of Daniel)—all of whom functioned in the Government of their day.

Nation Leaders need to instruct their Chief Administrator who will assemble a group of Apostles and Prophets who possess the Governmental Anointing that will carry out research and look in different areas, particularly concerning the ideas aforementioned.

The president needs now to pull some key persons together with this Governmental Anointing, such as:

Architects

Lawyers

Lab Technicians

Managers

Accountants

Politicians

Marine Biologists

Businessmen

Deep Sea Divers

Geologists

Media Personnel

Environmentalists

Economists

Bankers

Apostles

Prophets

Evangelists

Teachers

Pastors

This group will begin to deal with key matters that will bring solutions for diseases, issues concerning oil, and much more because many of these issues have to do with nature. The plants, for example, are for the healing of the nation, but if no research is carried out with a view to discovering viable solutions for the nation, then we will be seeing some dark days ahead! Additionally, there are strategic places in America where hidden treasures and secrets are, and when they are discovered, it will yield great wealth and prosperity for the nation.
