About this ebook
We are so busy reacting to external situations in our ever-changing world that we often forget who we really are, smothering ourselves in a blanket of stress and anxiety over things that dont really matter. The ever-observant child will learn to mimic how we deal with situations, carrying the same heavy blanket with them and can in turn lose track of what really matters, who they are and their real purpose in life. This book is about shedding those unnecessary layers to reveal our true selves so that through successful relationships we can share our love, happiness, peace, truth, and strength with each individual we come in to contact with.
Please do not underestimate the capabilities of a child. Whether he or she is a teenager ,6 years old, a newborn baby or a young fetus, they all can hear us and they all feed off the love we show them. Every child, whatever their age, needs us to love them unconditionally, care for them and to be good role models.
Practice this by reading the book to your loved ones, wherever they may be.
I wish you the very best and I am grateful for this opportunity to share all my love, happiness, and strength with all the parents and children in this world, and beyond.

Dedication
This series of three children’s books is dedicated to all mothers and children and in particular to my admirable parents, my brother and sister law and my nephew , Nischal and my niece, Karina and my two adorable children, Hari and Koshaliya.
Hari and Koshaliya have been a great inspiration in my life and throughout this very special project. I feel honored that they chose me as their guide, their mother, their father, a friend and a teacher. I have done my best to be all that for them but have come to accept that, no matter how hard we try and how good our intentions are, we cannot always do everything alone. Thus, I have failed some of my responsibilities, but have also passed many. I did the best I could, relying on my maternal instincts, and drawing upon the very limited experience, knowledge and resources available to me at the time.
There is no perfect way to parent, as there is no right or wrong approach to this most important task any of us will ever be entrusted with in our lives. What is important is that, as a parent, you have genuine intent and stay true to your many roles you will have to adopt as your child grows and matures. The relationship between a parent and a child is unique and each relationship is different.
Hari and Koshaliya, I feel that I have done my very best under the circumstances and my Intent has always been good and true. You threw at me all life’s challenges to which I responded to my best ability and, as a result, I passed most and failed some. Still, both successes and failures have allowed me to learn and grow as a parent and as an individual. And, for that, I want to offer you my heartfelt ‘Thank You’.
Lastly it is difficult to end this book without a mention of a very special family – my biological mother , father, my 4 sisters, 2 brothers and my very special nephews and nieces and my grandchildren.
Through adoption I have learnt the pain and suffering of giving away one’s child and also the joys and fears of raising a child as your very own.
Both families have made many sacrifices for my success and me being here today sharing a part of my personal experience with all parents and children.
Foreword
My name Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Chetty and I work as a Medical Practitioner in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. I am a 3rd Generation Indian settled in Fiji islands. After I gained my Medical degree from Chennai, India, in 1984, I started practicing medicine and have worked in Fiji, New Zealand, and Australia. During my career, I have worked in both metropolitan and some very rural and remote areas of both New Zealand and Australia.
My extensive experience as a medical practitioner has provided me with an opportunity to interact with very diverse cross-section of the society, in terms of different cultures and the social status. As I always approach each of my patients as an individual, rather than merely a sick person in need of medical assistance, I have come to understand their beliefs, values, and hardships. No matter what their ailments were, I could see that all my patients had one common denominator—their love for their family. The adults that have visited my practice over the years came for a variety of reasons, and had shared their problems and showed their love through different ways. Still, all their hardships, goals, and visions had always been geared towards one truly admirable goal—Their Children’s Welfare.
I have witnessed the happiness, the love, the grief, and the pain all parents go through for their children. On the other hand, I have also seen children of varying ages feel the same happiness and love for their parents, but often masked by stress and pain caused by growing up in this highly demanding, culturally diverse, increasingly isolating world, where communication provided by the modern technology is slowly replacing the true direct human contact.
The changing landscape of our world, the increasingly difficult economic conditions, the stress of working, the demands placed on both parents to provide safe and healthy environment for their children, and many other pressures of modern life, have caused many families to spend very little quality time together. Moreover, the need to feel adequate, accepted, competitive, and successful is not as easily met as it was before, when communities and extended families offered the much needed love and support. This global world is a new and often scary territory for both parents and children, causing many to reevaluate our true values, our identity, and our purpose in life.
Although I am aware that my knowledge is not all encompassing and that I cannot offer advice to each child and every family, my experience has given me enough insight into the family dynamics in vastly different social contexts. That is why I decided to write this book, hoping to reach out to those that are maybe embarrassed, scared, or unable to seek help directly.
This book is for all parents—parents waiting to for that special soul to make their life complete, parents who are pregnant and those who already are gifted with children. The advice given within can be used daily, as a simple to use guide on how to help our children to navigate their way into adulthood. It can also be used for mediation and asking for that special soul to choose us to be their
