About this ebook
Why God?
Everyone that I saw asked the same questions: Why God? Why has this happened to us? I wondered if we had done something really bad to bring Davids death upon us. I had always prayed to God for him to protect Dan and our children. I asked God to put a protective shield around them everywhere they went and to bring them back safely to me. I believed with all my heart that God would answer my prayers.
Three months before Davids accident, I was sitting in the den talking with one of my son-in-laws about what I believed. He said Linda, death is realwe humans dont have any control over it. David was sitting in a recliner listening to us and he said, Mama, hes right; we dont ever know.
There was a big game going on in Heaven in honor of Christs birthday. They needed a catcher, so I got the Call, Come on son, come play in our Game today!
My dear family and friends remembered when those tears start to fill your eyes; just go outside and look up towards the stars for I will be playing on the Diamond in the sky!

Biography
Reading this book was truly a time where I felt as though I was in the living room of the Hussey family. I felt as if I was learning about each of their journeys, as God took them through an event that every parent doesn’t want to have. I would recommend this book to any person who has lost a loved one or needs to hear once again, that God is there and He cares. I believe as you read this book you will have your faith challenged and strengthened. I am thankful for the Hussey family opening their homes and hearts and sharing with us their story.

Introduction
On December 21, 1997 my husband and I received a phone call at 3:30 in the morning that forever changed our lives. Our son David had been in an automobile accident and we could tell by the tone of his friends voice that it was serious. We were suddenly thrust into an indescribable feeling of total body pain and agony. Circumstances and events out of our control changed our direction and forced us to travel down a road we would have never chosen for ourselves. I had much rather go down the path that put me in the grave first and allowed my children to live long lives, but destiny said no to this. We had been making preparation for a big Christmas celebration and our daughter Brenda’s birthday, but now we had to make plans for our son David’s funeral. We were on a pathway of destruction due to the mental anguish that knocked us to our knees. We prayed for God to help us to gain our strength and to be able to function again. We promised God that if he would help us to recover and be able to go about our daily activities without so much pain that we would give him all praise, honor, and glory.
This book is unique because it is a true story about a mothers journey through her time of grief and how the Lord guided her and her family through it. I began to diligently study the Bible and God showed me the answers to many questions that are asked when we lose a loved one. A few months after the accident our daughter Brenda had a wonderful experience. Early one morning while she was in her bedroom a bright light began to shine before her. David walked out of the bright light and began to talk to her. God knew that Brenda needed this because the accident happened on her birthday. This experience changed our family and put us on a path to positive recovery. At some point I began to feel different type of movements inside my spirit. I could feel that it was beginning to push the pain to the side and replace it with a peaceful feeling. On April 21, 2001 God allowed the spiritual talks to begin with David. I came to realize that my physical son had been replaced with my spiritual son. Through these talks I found my son again.
This book details the miracle and blessings God poured out on our family. Anyone who reads this book will benefit from the positive message and it lets you know that with Gods help you can learn to live again. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ stretched out his arms on the cross and lay down his life for all mankind. This lets us know he is there for everyone and all we have to do it call on his name.
David began playing tee-ball at the age of four and even at this early age he had a natural talent for the sport. You could tell that his heart was in the game because every time he stepped on the field he gave it his all. During his lifetime he played on many baseball fields in the state of Alabama. His passion was to play professional baseball and there were several pro scouts looking at David for his athletic ability.
Many times when I get sad it helps me to go outside and look up to Heaven. My son will be up there playing on The Diamond in the Sky.
I Was Born a Country Girl
I was raised as a country girl on a small family farm in Malvern, Alabama. My mother, Lacy, and my daddy, CJ Aplin, were very hard working people. When my mother was growing up, she learned how to play the piano and guitar by ear. She said on several occasions different churches would send for her to come play the piano during revivals. She really enjoyed doing this because it gave her the opportunity to share her love of making music with others. Then she met C. J., and the first thing that attracted her to him was his big brown eyes.
My daddy farmed all throughout his life. He was always out in the fields working, even as a young boy, so he never learned how to read or write. He only knew how to write his name. Daddy was a successful farmer who had plenty of common sense. He could look at his fields of corn, cotton or peanuts and tell exactly what the crop needed. In the 1960’s he added growing tomatoes to his list of row cropping. He hauled many truckloads of tomatoes to the farmers’ market in Birmingham, Alabama because there was not a market in our area. He was one of the pioneer farmers who helped to establish the Slocomb Tomato Market
. When it opened for business, farmers could take their tomatoes to Slocomb, Alabama to be packed and shipped out to different parts of the country. The market has grown and today thousands of people come to Slocomb and the surrounding communities every summer to buy some of those tasty tomatoes.
Daddy and mother raised a family of eight children which consisted of four boys and four girls. I was number seven. We didn’t have much money, but we were rich in love and deep caring for one another. Our family’s strength lay in our church upbringing and our faith in God. Daddy and mother would take us to church every Sunday, and Daddy would always manage to drop a little money into the offering plate. Mother always cooked and the table was spread with a Sunday meal every day of the week. All of us worked hard on the farm, and we would come in to a meal fit for a king.
Our parents would always reward us for our hard work by taking us on picnics. They would take us to the beach a couple of times in the summer, and in the fall we would go to Eufaula, Alabama fishing. Every trip consisted of food, swimming, and lots of fun. This was my daddy’s greatest joy, especially the food part.
I cherish all of these memories, but the one that stands out the most in my mind is the three day fishing trip to Deland, Florida. Daddy’s brother and his family went along on the trip, and all of us loaded up on a big truck. There were several of us riding in the back, and I remember someone on the truck yelling out, "We’re crossing
