About this ebook

Anatomical Planes may sound to be common everyday concepts. The moment they are used with directional terms like Superior, Inferior, Lateral or Medial, the confusion ensues. But the students will have an epiphany with this terms, but not immediately. Later, you will wonder, “How did I miss such a mundane concept?”. The majority of directional terms are everyday English vocabulary. It’s their Latin roots... and naming conventions that are mystifying. How do you explain: “DORSOFLEXION” as opposed to “PLANTARFLEXION”. Opposite directions but they are both – FLEXION.

ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY (A&P): Be Prepped. Be Forearmed.

Except for an introductory A&P course in select high schools there is no subject, nor pre-requisite college course that prepares Health Science majors for the large volume and unique challenges of A&P terms. Health majors who have yet to take the course will be glad having been prepped and forearmed by ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY (A&P) TERMS.

Due to the deluge of unfamiliar terms most students’ initial reaction to 1st semester Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) is an overwhelming "shock and awe",.

A&P TERMS is an abecedary on the course’s esoteric terms from the ordinary to the most challenging (*An abecedary is a primer book presented in alphabetical order). The purpose is to gain insights into the terms by way of imagery of their Classical Greek & Latin roots and their compounding from two or more root(s), prefixes and suffixes. It serves as a matrix to understanding the unfamiliar words of the course. Breaking down the morphology of A&P terms enhances long term memory, and minimizes repetitive memorization drills.
