    Introduction

This book or manual is about Japanese Reiki, the old and well-known healing modality that is based on channelling life’s energy through the hands of the healer into the body of the recipient. Reiki is a path of enlightenment, cleaning you from the inside and opening you up to receive the wisdom of life.

This book will give you full understanding of Reiki and how to use it. Honestly, it can be used as a manual in which you will find basic and source information about Reiki.

Japanese Reiki was the first version of Reiki. without any additions or spices from my side. In other words, I present it as it is with illustration from my side.

In this book you will read about Reiki, its effect on our lives, and its pillars.

All valid Reiki versions will talk about five pillars (which will be looked at in depth in this manual):

1- Precepts: the most important pillar in Japanese Reiki. They are the essence of Reiki, without them you wouldn’t have an understanding of the life source. Other versions of Reiki don’t stress this pillar as much for various reasons.

2- Meditation and techniques: will help you clean and strengthen yourself from the inside and create a better channel for the energy.

3- Symbols and mantras: the wheel which we may use to channel the energy. Dr Usui introduced only four symbols and one mantra. When we utilize Reiki as a tool for personal growth it is important to focus on the cleaning from the inside (precepts), not the tools of cleaning (mantras and symbols).

4- Hands-on Healing: the process of channeling the energy from the source and transferring the energy to our bodies, or the client’s body through the hands.

5- Attunements: the process the Reiki teacher or master uses to open their students’ channels to receive the energy. This is important. Even if you study this book, you will still need to be attuned to the Reiki energy, which can only be received from a Reiki teacher.

As a side note: There is no harm in studying other forms or versions of Reiki, but by studying Japanese Reiki you are learning the very essence and origin of Reiki. Furthermore, Japanese Reiki is the simplest version and the easiest to learn.

This book was written as a manual to be taught in my workshops, so while reading it just imagine that you are in one of them.

You may be reading this book because you want to know more about Reiki (before or after studying it), or perhaps you would like to teach Reiki and want a good source of information for your workshops. Please feel free to use this book as a manual in your own workshops.

If you have not begun to study Reiki, take your time choosing a Reiki teacher – how do you feel when you interact with them? If your intuition tells you that a particular teacher is perfect for you, then follow that inner guidance. Take time to ask your teacher how they were trained, how long they have been teaching and anything else you want to know. A good teacher will be more than happy to spend time talking with you before you commit to a training course.

    Have wonderful time reading

    The meaning of Reiki

Reiki is simply the Japanese energy healing modality. It is a path of enlightenment and a healing method.

Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) consist of two characters Rei and Ki, the Kanji (Japanese alphabet) definition of these parts:

Rei – universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power, essence.

    Ki – vital force energy

Reiki, with a capital R, is a specific healing support system, divided into three levels, which have been passed along from Reiki Master to student for the past hundred years since its rediscovery by Mikao Usui.

Reiki is not a substitute of conventional medicine, but it can be a useful

complementary therapy. During Reiki sessions, do not try to diagnose a problem.

After you have received an attunement you can practise Reiki on yourself, friends, family and animals. Once you have been attuned to the Master symbol, you can teach Reiki.

Be Reiki from now on, but more importantly enjoy it.

Once you have been attuned your body will go through an adaptation process. This may manifest itself in a number of ways, including headaches, cold, spots etc. Be assured that this process is short-lived. Keep up self-treatments every day to promote your wellbeing. Practise Reiki on others. Do whatever your intuition guides you to do.

    Reiki Pillars

Five pillars of the Japanese system will be covered at the Reiki workshops:

    1. Reiki precepts, which are the base of Reiki that promote a healthy energetic system.

    2. Reiki attunements, which are energy ceremonies that connect students to the Reiki energy.

    3. Meditation techniques that refine and strengthen a student's connection to energy.

    4. Reiki healing that enables students to use energy to heal themselves and others

    5. Mantras and symbols (introduced in Reiki Level 2) that help students strengthen their connection to Reiki energy.

Self-empowerment is attained in Shinpiden through a strong energetic connection to the Source of Reiki. It is also the result of the confidence you will feel as a result of your thorough knowledge of Reiki, how it works, its variations, where Reiki stands in the World today, the Japanese Shirushi (symbols) and Jumon (mantras) and their connection to Japanese philosophies, and what the origin of Reiki’s spiritual nature is.
