    What’s Up Doc?

While reading this book does not require you to check with your physician, you should definitely check with them before beginning a weight loss and/or exercise program. Additionally, one cannot be fit and fabulous by avoiding regular checkups that help us ensure everything is in order. Mammograms, physicals, dental and vision checkups, and pap smears are necessary to stay in tip-top shape from the inside out. Knowledge is power and avoiding those routine check-ups will not protect you from bad news. It will actually empower you. Going to the doctor enables you to be proactive in light of the results. A lot of diseases and ailments are preventable if we make wiser decisions when it comes to our health. Avoiding the doctor puts you in a more vulnerable position and it doesn’t empower you to manage your health. Of course if you’re starting a fitness program, you should consult with your physician for a routine physical. There are basic exams and tests everyone should have and then there are specific tests one should have based on an assessment of their health. Saying What’s Up Doc? on a regular basis goes a long way in staying fit and fab. Taking care of yourself should not exclude the care and consultation from your regular doctor. What you learn will not hurt you, but will definitely help you be in a better position to deal with your health.

    Make Mine a Double

Working out two times a day is not uncommon, especially if you’re trying to reach your weight loss goals quicker. If you’re short on time, you can probably do 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes or an hour later in the day or when it’s more convenient for you. While I don’t do it on a daily basis, every now and then I usually choose a day where I may do two separate workouts in one day. I might even do an hour of strength training in the morning and an hour of cardio in the afternoon. This is particularly good if you want to maximize your workouts, but may not have a two hour block of time to devote at one time. Even if you work out for a half hour on any particular day due to time constraints, it still counts as time spent moving your body. The point is that you give it your best effort and don’t feel pressured to work out two times in one day until your body has become used to working out regularly. Even if you may even elect to exercise one day a week where you do two sessions, that’s sufficient. Just don’t overdo it. Breaking it up sometimes is okay if you stay committed to your exercise
