About this ebook
Living in the Blessing
Many of us get on our knees and pray each night. We ask that God bless us with this, or that. We repent of our sins and ask forgiveness. I still pray each night and from time to time Ill find myself asking for a blessing. I usually find that God has already answered it because He knew what I needed before I did. I askthat God watch over those that are not as fortunate as I am. I know that people prayed for and are praying for me, so I feel that its only right that I pray for others. I was thinking, which can be dangerous, as I was driving my new car. Gods favor must be with me because I was able tobuy itwithout a down payment, or giving a pint of blood, orlosing an arm or a leg. I realized that I had just received a blessing, or should I say another blessing.
I had been asking and praying for a blessing or some kind of sign from God. I had been asking for His favor and until that moment I hadnt realized that I had been LIVING IN THE BLESSING all along. I was alive and alert, I have family that loves and cares for me and not to put Him last, but I had The Lord. My life is good and I am living in a continuous blessing. What a blessing it was to find myself in a blessing. Some of you know just what I mean, others will find out soon.
God does not forget or forsake His chosen people. We are those chosen people, you and I. Hallelujah this is why I write and praise the Lord the way I do.

I am G. Stephen Hughes and I thank you for allowing me to share these poems and short stories with you. It is my pleasure to do so because I am serving the Lord. I am sharing my feelings for what He has done in my life. I have gone through a great deal of "Life" as many ofyou have, and I am not going to try and convince you that my life has been more heartbreaking or more challenging than yours. I am going to say that with Jesus I have been able to overcome them. I had a long addiction to drugs and other things which kept me in bondage. Those things finally left me homeless, helplessand feeling hopeless. I got to the point that Ifell to my knees andbegged forGods help. I told Him I was ready to do what ever it takes. Everything has completely turned around since then. It hasnt taken place over night and there have been some slippery places and I have stumbled once or twice, but I have never gone back to what or where I was. My new book is entitled Living in the Blessing. We all find ourselves praying for this or that kind of blessing to come about I our lives, but if we take a few minutes to look closely, we will see that many times we are already living in the blessing we were asking for. I have Phase 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer, and in 2005 I was given18 monthsto live, but I go by a Higher Authority and I KNOW PRAYER WORKS.

Just A Few Quick Facts
This will not be an easy story to write. First I want to ask you not to feel pity for me, I don’t. Please don’t cry for me, and don’t feel sorry for me. Please do feel sorry those for the people that lost everything in Katrina, or those that go hungry everyday, or the men women and children that are homeless. If you cry, cry for those who watched their homes and everything in them burn to the ground, in the Southern California wildfires. If you pray, pray for the parents who sit in hospital waiting rooms as their children slip away. Pray for those who suffered the greatest loss, that of a loved one in a far away country while serving ours. There are so many more people out there that are in much worse condition, and deserving your tears and prayers. Those of you that do choose to pray for me,I thank you. God always answers prayer. I don’t want to write this story in a whiny way, but in a way that gives the facts and lets you know my situation.
It was hard to decide which was more difficult, writing this story, or trying to walk out of the doctors office without bursting into tears in February of 2005. That was the day he put a face on the beast of death, my death. After a battery of tests, procedures, and a painful surgery, this was the visit that brought the world to a halt, and drove a deafening silence deep into my life and sucked the air right out of my lungs. Panic and disbelief overwhelmed me. This was
