Pieces of the Heart Iii

About this ebook
With no particular rhyme or reason to its organization, Haszto puts together another collection so deep in feeling and intense in thought that 'Pieces III' would fit perfectly with its predecessors, 'Pieces of the Heart' and 'Pieces of the Heart II'.
Once again, as is with life, anything thing can happen at any time, and that continues to be the theme running through the 'Pieces' books. All too often, life is improvised, feelings blossom, sometimes to extremes, as events occur in our everyday lives.
Enter the mind of this author and prepare to take a long ride into his rollercoaster-like imagination and perception-filled world. A peek will be all that's needed, as any one of the dozens of creative poems will hook the reader into full indulgence. Enjoy!

Mike Haszto will be turning sixty-two in this year of 2021. He still resides in North Ridgeville, Ohio, although this native of Islip, Long Island, New York still dreams of a house on the beach somewhere between the Outer Banks and Key West. A tent may have to do. Mike’s adventures still take him on journeys for childhood cancer through the Great Cycle Challenge. This will be Mike’s fourth year riding for the kids who should be living life and not fighting for it. You can donate at: www.greatcyclechallenge.com/Riders?MikeHaszto Each passage of time has taken him into various directions and hobbies…whether the radio industry, footgolf, golf, hockey, etc, but some things remain the same…his love of coaching hockey (31+ years), his love of writing (14 novels and 6 poetry books), his love of being a Parrothead (45+ years) and the escapism of the lifestyle and music of Jimmy Buffett, his intense obsessions with the New York Mets and Islanders, and his love of Joyce and family.

puzzlepieces.jpgForeword
It’s truly been a wonderful ride. Novels and poems, the blessings have been quite evident. Friends, family, yes the blessings are absolutely evident. It takes so many things in order to put a book together.
Outside influences are indeed key. The environment that surrounds one must be motivating as well as filled with little nuances that can capture the attention of this writer. It may be just one little item that can spawn five or more poems, when expanding an imagination to its depths. Yet, that one little item needs to be found, needs to unlock the mind, and let the imagination run free.
It’s no secret that this writer uses a stretching imagination and dreams outside the box. One would have to live infinite lives and experience infinite things so many times over in order to actually live out these experiences in each poem. But that’s the beauty about being a writer and a poet. It’s being able to take a vision, any vision, and describe it so that the reader will be put right there experiencing it. And, hopefully, invoke the reader’s thought process as well.
Whether it was throughout childhood, the early adult years, or now through the later years, this writer has been blessed with a fertile environment to expound upon. As with all lives, there are so many positives to draw from and lessons to learn from…and so many observations to make. Add to that mix the challenges and obstacles of everyday life as well for some more stirring in the environmental pot of stew. Then, consider what is real, what is dream, and what is fantasy…and that magical pot of environmental stew boils over with an endless wealth to draw upon…
One must admit that it is fun to be a romanticist and a dreamer. To be able to take a spectrum of emotions, as a romanticist lives with on a daily basis, and put them into visions and words is an incredible feeling. Sure, at times it becomes an overwhelming feeling of extremism, with the stretching of emotions into a deep depression or a shout-from-the-mountaintop euphoria. Yet, in essence, there are times in our lives where all of us feel just that: whether alone and depressed or ecstatic and euphoric. The point is we all feel that at some time, hence the last of the trilogy we have here called Pieces of the Heart.
Or will this be the last ?
Emotions, like experiences and time seem to go on. And with every new experience appears a new feeling. It’s all part of the personal development of all of us, until we reach that next stage in another place and time…and life.
Then, one would imagine, we’ll all deal with this again, under a different understanding…
Enjoy!

Learning to Think
open my eyes
to the circling skies
of my ceilings white…
feeling the dread
of those sticky cobwebs
from the faded night…
body looks to roll
i’m in search of soul
to combat this sight…
suspended animation
creative fascination
is it wrong or right…
can’t keep my mind on my twisting finds
brain behind i’m just a dreamland misfit in time…
body one big ache
from a life’s big stake
to love and learn…
fatal attraction
on a massive distraction
to go on and yearn…
gotta move about
and rid all doubt
of desires that burn…
passionate fix
on the bomb that ticks
no need for concern…
can’t keep my mind on my twisting finds
brain behind i’m just a dreamland misfit in time…
in the distance
another stare
emoting radiance
can’t be fair
phony presence
friend warning
make no sense
chaotic morning…
open my mind
to the cycling times
and accept just blue…
no longer dead
as the day’s ahead
gotta breathe and choose…
can’t force to think
the results will stink
as eyes close to continue…
