About this ebook

We are all given the ability to create wealth. Ability is the strength that we must use with our talents to trade in the marketplace. God has not disadvantaged anyone. Although He did not give us equal talents, He did give us talents according to our abilities. We therefore owe it to Him to maximise our potential by trading our talents.

It is not our fault that we were born poor, but it is our fault if we remain poor. Every one of us can become wealthy if we take the consistent, necessary steps. It takes learning and acting on what you have learned. No seed can grow unless it is planted and nurtured. In the same manner, no money can grow unless it is invested, traded and properly administered.

In this book, the author explains the habits that we need to learn to become wealthy. He also outlines a detailed wealth plan, and what to do to keep what you have accumulated for generations. The role of the government is highlighted, so that we should not be misled to believe that the government is solely responsible for our success. We are responsible for our own success.

    Foreword

Wealth is a state of mind. Throughout human history, the principles that govern the acquisition of wealth haven’t changed. Our possessions cannot be greater than our abilities. In almost every generation, there is a group of people who attain a level of wealth, while others barely survive. Wealth is not money. Wealth is a mental state that helps us to manifest the abundance resource inside of us. Wealth comes from resourcefulness, not resources. Until we are resourceful, our resources are volatile. As Nicollo Machiavelli advises, The prince who relies entirely on the fortune is lost when it changes. Wealthy people have more than money – their minds, hearts and spirit, are more powerful than the physical resources which their hands can attain. As a matter of fact, the problem is more than money. Money doesn’t solve problems, but people with money do.

While many people can argue about the meaning or rather definition of wealth, one should note that we start wealthy and finish off by being either wealthy, or poor. Our lives manifest either a wealth mentality, or a scarcity mentality. Wealth is like an ocean; we have a choice on how much water we take from the ocean by means of the size of the bucket that we bring to it. Furthermore, we are often scared to make demands and to be precise about the kind of life that we intend to live and build. Sometimes we fear to have more because it will attract the attention of others around us. Consequently, we resort to having less, even if we are still driven at the visceral level and have aspirations of living a good life.

In all of this, we have a choice: to attract and manifest wealth, or maintain our fantasies about it. For many centuries, wealth used to be for kings. They owned the gold and other lucrative, precious stones. It couldn’t be for everyone. Wealth used to give kings power and control over the people they ruled. However, the setup has changed; none of us needs to be in a position of kingship or royalty in order to become wealthy – we are already wealthy (wealth being a state of the mind). Our daily mission should be to be financially independent. This goal is easier than our minds may be able to conceive. You start with one income and then you use that income to create the next income. You don’t need what you say you need to live the way you desire to live. Design a plan.

Turning to the truth: Do we need the money, or the lifestyle? We are very vague and non-practical when it comes to being specific about our lifestyle goals. We tell ourselves stories about what having money (more) will do for us, but they are not true. Money will not make you happier than you already are. Money is a tool, a magnifier of who you are. The goal, then, is to use the resource to make ourselves, others and the environment we live in, better.

The acquisition of wealth is based on principles. Anybody can acquire the financial resources and create the lifestyle they have imagined. Remember: You have to start from a wealthy mindset, then use your mind to manifest the abundance that resides inside of you. Don’t wait for a better time to create generational wealth for yourself, your family and your peer-group.

In this book, Pastor Frans Mhlophe writes about the principles of wealth creation and how anybody who lives in a country with modest means, can acquire the resources they need to build wealth. Our actions cannot be wiser than our thoughts. Become equipped through this book.

    About the Author

    Introduction

"But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today." (Deuteronomy 8:18)

When you are poor, the above scripture may be hard to understand. I think most Christians’ first take on this scripture is that it can’t mean what it appears to say. The first thought that came to me was, ‘This must mean spiritual wealth, or riches,’ whatever that means. But, once I had taken the time to look at the rest of the chapter, I noticed that it’s talking about plain material wealth, or riches. The first important point we must grasp here is that God does not give us wealth. He only gives us the ability (skills, capacity, capabilities and connections, etc.) to create it. Therefore you and I have the inner ability to become rich.

Everything begins and ends with God. The real measure of your wealth is how much you will be worth if you lost all your money.

Successful, wealthy people have four basic abilities. These are not the only abilities that God gives to people, but they are the basic ones. Let me outline them for you:

The ability to be interested in the process of wealth creation

Wealthy people possess an interest in the process of wealth creation. Instead of being content with the wealth they currently have, they keep leaning and trying to find new ways to become wealthier. Anyone who doesn’t grasp the importance of being wealthier may try to associate their hunger to accumulate more as greed. Classifying a person who desires to have more, when he has enough, as being greedy, is against the scriptures because, as Mathew 13:12 says, "Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.’ When you have, you must desire to have more, lest you lose the little you have. Therefore, God is pleased when a person desires to have more. Greed is an intense and selfish desire for something. Greed is when someone always wants to have more to satisfy his lusts. Not all wealthy people operate on this level. Many wealthy people I know are the most generous givers and create big corporates that empowers nations.

Greed is an intense and selfish desire for something. Greed is when someone always wants to have more to satisfy his lusts. Not all wealthy people operate on this level.

One of the reasons some people remain poor and end up working in lousy jobs is because money management and wealth creation is not enjoyable for them. So, they bury their ability to create wealth and teach themselves to be content with their current state of affairs, which leads to deeper insufficiency, lack and mediocrity. To them, receiving money and spending it is the only process they know. They receive their salaries, or wages, spend it entirely and then wait for the next month’s pay day. It is a vicious circle: they get paid and spend, get paid and spend, for the rest of their lives.

Being great with money and learning how to create assets that earn money for you, is a learned skill and you can learn it, too. Being wealthy is a choice and that choice requires you to begin to learn and practice by experimenting.

When you experiment, you may lose money, but it is better to try something and fail than sit back hoping for luck, or supernatural wealth. Although God said that the just shall live by faith, he cannot contradict Himself. He also said ‘for faith to be alive, it needs actions.’

The ability to understand the basics of the investment theory

Most wealthy people know more than simple arithmetic, algebra, or the ability to manipulate a spreadsheet. They read books and attend important financial/business functions, seminars and workshops, in order to learn how to master the basics of investment theory. They possess an understanding of the laws of probability and a working knowledge of statistics. Proverbs 3 Verse 13 attests to this point: "Blessed is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding." Sadly, many poor people find this kind of understanding boring, or somewhat difficult.

Basic investments aren’t difficult to understand and they are almost what every person should have. So, begin to learn them. If I was the Minister of Education, I would include the subject of wealth creation and business skills as compulsory subjects, from the foundation
