- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a neat and cute little book that incorporated all of the important details about Albert Einstein. The author organized the events in chronological order which makes it easier for children to follow. This book was well put together for younger children. When it comes to biographies and informational text, children can get bored very quickly when there is too much information but the author found a way to make a balance between too much information and not enough. Another aspect of the book that I liked was the author made sure to put words that might be difficult for children in a bolded and different color font. She also included a glossary in the back of the book. I liked how the author put information on one page and then on the other page had a picture with a description. I think that a child might get a little confused because the pictures do not necessarily match perfectly with the text on the other page.Overall this is a well put together and organized book that is very informative. With the way things are written it is easy to remember. For example, when they talked about him getting a compass from his dad that he enjoyed and he wanted to learn more about science after that. That is a fact that a child can easily remember. Overall, this was a great biography book for a young child to learn about Albert Einstein.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a very short book by The Child’s World in their Basic Biographies series. It is a cute depiction of who Einstein was in a very broad sense and is organized somewhat chronologically just touching on aspects of his life in a few short sentences. On the left pages are the main sentences, and on the right pages are full-page pictures of Einstein and a small note telling about the picture. Throughout the book when the author used a relatively difficult word, she put it in bold. There is a glossary in the back for definitions of those words in bold. This book is great for getting kids excited about something they have never heard of, and if they have never heard of Albert Einstein this would be a great book to get them interested. There is a small “About the Author” note in the back that says Kesselring has taught all ages up to 8th grade and she loves getting kids excited about learning. There is very little about what qualifies her for writing a biography on Albert Einstein, however, the structure and organization and simplicity of the book speak for itself that she did a good job at what she has a passion for.
