    Introduction

    What is Euchre?

Euchre is a trick-taking card game. Think Bridge, Whist, Pinochle, or Wizard (if you have had the pleasure of playing). The aim is to take as many tricks during a hand as you can. The game is played with a regular deck of cards, but not with all of them. Usually, certain cards are discarded to leave 24, 28, or 32 cards.

The game of Euchre was responsible for adding jokers to a regular deck of cards, and addition which has been kept for years. Can you imagine a deck of cards without a joker? The game is usually played with four players, split into two partnerships.

Euchre is a fun and fast-paced game, with some interesting rules (which we will get into later). The best way to play Euchre? Grab some friends, some drinks, some snacks, and a comfortable place to play.

    Perfect.

    History of Euchre

As with many older games, there are a variety of histories. The most believed Euchre origin story comes from the United States. When German settlers came to the US, they brought their variation of the game with them. This was in the 19th century. They settled in Pennsylvania and spread throughout the country as time passed. The game spread with them.

It is now widely believed that the name of the game came from the work Juckerspiel. Jucker translates to Jack. Spiel translates to Play. In Euchre, the top two trumps are Jacks. There are also theories that theme came from Cornwall, but the German origin is considered the most likely.

At the end of the 19th century, Euchre was considered the national game, but as the 19th century progressed, the popularity of the game decreased. In the Midwest states, the game still has a strong following, and the people there are keeping the game alive. Most countries around the world still play the game, but you will always find local variations, which differ slightly country to country,
