      Introduction

      Welcome to the Signs of the Last Days: Study Guide! This small group curriculum was developed to answer the relationship between natural disasters, earthquakes, and wars, and their significance in Bible prophecy. What connections exist between these areas? What principles should we use in interpreting today’s events and the cataclysmic events of our world, whether earthquakes in Japan, Haiti, and Chile, wars and upheaval in the Middle East? We argue that God desires for us to know both what his Word says and what is happening in our world to better serve God’s purposes in our generation.

      Throughout this study, we will look at the prophecies given in Matthew 24 and other passages that speak of activities similar to what we see today. We discuss:

      What are the signs of the end times Jesus told us to watch for?

      Do recent earthquakes in Japan, Haiti, and Chile foreshadow the great earthquakes Scripture predicts will come upon the earth during the Tribulation?

      Are the numerous wars in the Middle East and around the world starting to align with the great wars Jesus and the prophets said would take place in the last days?

      Is the increasing disparity between rich and poor and the rising inflation around the world leading to the one-world economy predicted in Daniel and Revelation?

      We compare Scripture with world events in this new, three-part study. In three weeks we cannot cover every detail of these trends, but we can provide tremendous insights for understanding the relationship between today’s events and biblical prophecy in a fresh, new way. Rather than being confused by today’s events, you will have a greater appreciation of God’s ongoing plan as we look forward to eternity with Christ.

      We look forward to how this study will help you both better understand your own Christian faith and how it will help you in sharing your faith with others. Through it, we hope you will be better able to contend for the faith (Jude 3) as well as to show Christ’s love to those in need.
