Drawing from Ben Aipa’s step-bottom stingers, along with Australian Shaper Phil Myers and Tom Peterson’s earlier work with Tom Curren and myself, I have redesigned the FIREBALL to fit blend the channel into the bottom) creates a “textured” surface as the water drives across the bottom, much like the new Gorilla Hull speedboat designs. When in lackluster conditions, the design creates a cushion of air right between your feet giving your board the extra lift needed to carry you through to the next section that has some energy.
