Bible Stories With A Twist Book 2 - Paul Lynch

    Cain and Abel

After Adam and Eve had sinned on the earth, the Lord God expelled them out of the beautiful Garden of Eden that was once filled with lush green shrubs, brightly colored flowers, beautiful tamed creatures and fruits of all kinds, and they went into a different part of the country that wasn’t so attractive to live in.  On this new plot of land Adam settled along with Eve and became a farmer of fruits, vegetables, and cattle, and Eve prepared the home he had built out of growing timber that he had cut in a nearby forest. Eve and Adam were the only people on the entire planet, and they had remembered the Lord’s command that they should populate the earth; and after six months Eve conceived and gave birth to a son, whom she named Cain, and he was the first person to be born on the earth. After a year had passed Eve conceived again and brought forth another son, and she named him Abel, and both Adam and his wife gave thanks to God for their two good-looking children. In those days people were very tall and huge and so were Adam and Eve. Adam was very huge and he weighed over a ton and so was Eve. While Adam did much farming on the land Eve taught the two boys how to read, write, and obey God’s voice and as soon as the boys were older Abel became the very obedient son while Cain wasn’t so obedient to his parents. The boys now were fifteen years old, and they were over three hundred feet tall and Cain liked to plant crops such as tomato, cucumbers, and carrots and Abel loved to rear sheep.  Abel always prayed to God and God would eventually reply. Meanwhile, Cain didn’t like to pray to God, and he often complained that he preferred to farm crops. On the earth, there was enough of everything, so the new family didn’t have any complaints because they always were satisfied with what they had, and that was enough. It was required that man’s sins should be atoned for, so God told Adam to kill a healthy sheep, cow, or goat each year as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity, and each year he did this because he obeyed God’s voice. Abel and Cain sometimes went to Adam’s field and they would eat an abundance of fruits such as gigantic guavas, apples, pears, and bananas. The young boys liked fruits very much, and, so did their father, Adam. Adam was now a hundred years old, and Eve was a few years younger than Adam. Even at that age, Adam was still a very young man, and Eve too was pretty young because at that time on the earth everything had a long lifespan, and there weren’t any devastators of it. Time quickly had passed, and Abel was now a man being twenty-five years old, and Cain was twenty-six years old. At this age, they had weighed over five hundred pounds, and they had gotten to four hundred and fifty feet tall. Abel had over ten thousand head of cattle, and he became a great shepherd, and Cain had over a thousand acres of fruits and vegetables which weighed over a hundred and fifty pounds each. The now grown men knew what God commandments were, and Abel became God’s humble servant, while Cain became a rebel who didn’t listen to God or even talked to Him. It occurred on a certain day of the week that both Cain and Abel went to work, and Abel being the keeper of sheep and goats thought of moving his cattle to the backside of the mountain where there was very good mineral grass and vegetation because his current land needed to be replenished by the underground source of water. In those days rainwater wasn’t known, meaning that the family of the earth had never seen water droplets coming on the earth from the clouds. It was the Lord who commanded that the water from under the ground came to wet the thirsty land. Meanwhile, as Abel drove the cattle, Cain was busy in his field planting crops, and he planted vegetables and fruit trees. Now fruit trees and vegetables in those days only took a couple of days to reach maturity, and after planting so many fruits and vegetable seeds Cain went home. Now Abel was busy moving cattle when suddenly a little goat escaped into the field that belonged to Cain, and it did much damage as rooting up the cucumber hills and plowing up the carrots and huge beans, but neither Abel nor Cain had any clue that this incident took place. Abel felt tired, so he didn’t count the cattle to see that all of them were accounted for, and he went home and ate dinner, then went off to bed. The next day both brothers were feeling great, and Abel prayed to God to guide him in all his affairs and day work, but Cain didn’t pray to God, but he just ate breakfast which included huge yellow-orange pumpkins, chocolate, fruits, and a huge bowl of milk. After both brothers ate they went into their respective fields, which were opposite each other to a great extent. Cain was the first to arrive at his field and upon seeing goat footprints, and the entire field rooted up, and the evidence of black goat’s hair, he became very angry because he knew that Abel was responsible for his farm looking like an animal playpen. Cain said in his heart, ‘I will kill Abel, my brother for this act.’ Over by Abel’s field, he had no clue that Cain wanted to kill him, and he moved all his cattle successfully, and he took care of them as a good shepherd; and he never departed from the instructions of the Lord.

On a certain day, Cain and Abel being thirty-one and thirty years old, decided to offer a sacrifice to the Lord as a first fruit offering, meaning that they should offer the best of their products as a sacrifice or gift to God. Cain was always the jealous one, and he thought of a way how to give God the best of the crop this time around because in the past he often offered the worst crop as a gift offering. Abel always gave God the best offering, and God was always well pleased with him. On this particular day, Cain went to his field took his farming tools, and he harvested the best crops of gigantic weights and he went to the altar of the Lord so that God could judge the gift offering. Abel went to his field also and he brought the best sheep out of his thousands and sacrificed it to the Lord. Now, Cain offered his offering first and although it was a good gift offering his heart was very evil before the Lord. Therefore, God didn’t accept the gigantic crops, but Abel’s burnt lamb went up to heaven, and it smelled very sweet to God. Furthermore, his heart was good, so God accepted his sacrifice. When Cain saw what had occurred, he became very angry in his heart because he thought that God would accept his crops because of their size and color, and furthermore, it was his best crops.  ‘Oh, boy’ he cried. And he went away from before Abel and the presence of the Lord, but he was very unhappy with God’s decision.  Later in the evening Cain was frustrated, and he thought of an evil plan to get rid of Abel once and for all, and he decided to trick his brother to go into the field, and then he would take his plowing fork and kill his own brother. The more he thought about these things were the more it sounded good in his own mind, but the Lord knew everything, and he was nearby observing. Cain finally went to bed in anger, and he wanted the next day to come very quickly to carry out his evil plan against Abel. Morning came quickly and both brothers had woken up early and ate breakfast. They lived in different houses and were close neighbors.  Abel, after he had eaten breakfast went out along with his dog Tobi, and suddenly he saw his brother Cain who was waiting for him sitting on a huge rock.  A bit surprised, Abel greeted his brother and Cain did likewise. However, Cain had looked very happy that day because he knew it was the day he would get revenge on his brother. The conversation started, and Abel said to Cain, Brother, what are you doing at my house today?

Cain answered, I’m here because I wanted your help in the field today. You see, I have a lot of vegetables to reap and I have no one else to turn to, and I have even brought an extra pair of cutting tools for you because I know you would not say no to such a request.

Abel paused then answered, Sure, brother Cain I would be delighted to help you, after all, you’re my only brother on the earth, and I’m sure my cattle will be in good hands over by the brook where those fierce wild beasts can’t reach. This being said both brothers went on, but Tobi the little dog tried to stop Abel because he sensed that Cain was very dangerous, but he couldn’t stop him from going. Cain’s field was across the mountains and they reached there very quickly, and after reaching the field Abel was shocked to see that there weren’t any crops, but dry land, and he thought that somehow they were in a different field. Cain said to his brother, This is my field, but it seems that somehow my crops are not here today. I knew they were very much in abundance yesterday and they were ready to be harvested, but somehow it seems an evil angel from Satan has destroyed my crops.

When Abel heard what was said, he replied, It seems like an evil angel has done this thing. After he said those words, he stooped down to see the clay on the land, suddenly Cain in anger ran towards him, and hit him on his head, and Abel died immediately on the cursed ground.  The ground itself opened and swallowed the blood of Abel, and Tobi began to howl like a crazy mutt, but he felt the pain that his master was now dead. Cain didn’t care and he felt happy now that his brother was dead and he began to laugh and laugh, but God saw what had transpired and he took record of it. Cain then took Abel’s body and buried it in a deep hole, and then he went under a shade tree and then fell asleep. He then was awoken by the voice of the Lord God who called, Cain! Cain! Where are you?

When he heard this, he answered, Lord, Lord, here am I. The Lord then spoke out of heaven and said, Where is your brother Abel? I have been calling for him since mid-morning, and I can’t hear any answer.

Cain got upset and said, Lord am I my brother’s keeper? I don’t know where Abel is because I have been searching for him and didn’t find him.

The Lord knew that Cain was lying, and he replied, Cain, I saw from heaven that you murdered your own brother, and laughed and that you are evil from your youth. And because you have committed such a gruesome act I’ll curse the ground and crops forever, and it will never produce to the full extent, but only to feed your family.

When Cain heard those words from the Lord he was very sorrowful because now he had realized that murder was a very terrible act, and he sought pardon from the Lord, and he answered the Lord, Lord my punishment is so severe and I can’t handle it, and if anyone whether animal or man see me on the earth they will kill me because I have murdered my own brother. After he had said these things the Lord hearkened to his voice and placed a mark on Cain’s forehead so that no one whether animal or man would attack or kill him, and so it was, and the Lord departed from the presence of Cain. Cain later went to the home of his parents and told them that he had murdered Abel, and they were very angry at him and banished him out of their home and land. Therefore, Cain had to move out of his original home, and he settled in another land that is called Nod, and there he farmed the land and hunted animals, and he was very angry at himself for many years. Years later Adam and Eve produced other children including daughters, and Cain had to marry one of his sisters that didn’t know who he was. Adam and Eve’s third son was named Seth and he was replaced as another son in place for Abel, and he was very righteous, and the Lord walked with Seth and his family all the days of his life, but Cain and his descendants were very wicked and God didn’t walk with them.

    The Red Sea Is Divided

H urry up Kate and Peter ! shouted mother.

We are doing our best. Answered the children. After all, they were twins of just twelve years old, and they were hurrying to get away from the terrible Egyptians, who were pursuing them. The two children along with their parents were not that far behind, but they had to catch up, although their donkey was laden with goods that they had taken from Egypt; and he too was afraid and was now walking briskly along with his master. Kate and Peter were very excited to be free from the work of Egypt, although they were very young children who were slaves, they had to carry straw as duty and they had to mix mud, and now they were finally free.

What do you think the Promised Land will be like? Asked Kate to her parents.

We don’t know. Answered mother. Moses said it would have a lot of milk and honey, and enough land for everyone in the tribe to live."

Did you hear that Peter? asked Kate.

Yeah, I heard. Answered Peter. Will this land be richer and better than Egypt?"

Of course children. Answered father. It will be better because we will not be slaves to anyone. At these words, the children were extremely excited, and they were walking even faster now.

There are probably hundreds of thousands of people here, Kate said to her brother.

Certainly replied Peter, And remember that there are many Egyptian warriors behind us too, so that would make millions.

The children could see a huge cloud that hid them from the sight of the Egyptians by day, and at night they saw a huge flame of fire that allowed them to see in the dark, and it also was a shield for them. The journey was through the wilderness, and the people could see huge mountains on each side, but they sang songs and hurried along the path that was before them. Meanwhile, Moses, Joshua, and Aaron were leading the people, and they didn’t have an ounce of fear on their faces because they knew God was their leader. Kate and Peter couldn’t see the prophets who led, but they heard people around them who talked about the signs and wonders of the ten plagues of Egypt that God used to
