The Wisdom of God and How to Get It - Charles J. Quick Jr.

    Testimony

    Chapter 1

The Wisdom Of God In Creation (King David)

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3)

We see by this passage of scripture that God created our universe. The English Standard Version renders this verse thus. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.(Hebrews 11:3 ESV) Even though this is a very significant passage, one in which we will look at closely, in a moment, there are many other scriptures that speak of God’s creation which every believer ought to study in detail. We will do well to get as many passages as we can, memorized, expounded, well-researched, and deeply rooted into our hearts, on the topic of God’s wisdom in creation. Let’s examine a few verses more closely.

How manifold are Thy works, O Lord! In wisdom hast Thou made them all.(Psalm 104:24)

Here we have King David declaring that God made ALL His works in wisdom! Think of it! Not one of His works were done without wisdom. That is awesome to think about. If we just ponder on this truth for a while, I believe it will have a tremendous impact on our lives! Far too many of us have neglected the Holy Scriptures and we, in addition to those around us, are suffering because of our lack of knowledge. Our study of the Word benefits not only ourselves, but also those around us. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (1 Timothy 4:16) King David and the apostle Paul are in agreement with each other pertaining to the wisdom of God in creation. So it is with ALL scripture. There is no contradiction in the Word of God. Many who seek to discredit God’s word as pertaining to God’s creation are said to have their hearts darkened.

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. (Romans 1:20-25, 28)

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Ephesians 4:17-24)

These scriptures talk of a darkened heart and understanding. Their intellect is obscured or unclear. They are unable to think clearly about God’s creation, as revealed in the Holy Bible. We cannot expect the natural minds of men and women to accept God’s revelation concerning His creation. Paul said, Through FAITH we UNDERSTAND that the worlds (universe) were framed [(to complete thoroughly, i.e. repair) (Strong’s concordance #2675)] by the word of God.(Hebrews 11:3 kjv)

Paul also says, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are FOOLISHNESS unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (1 Corinthians 2:14) Why do we think unbelievers can acknowledge and understand God’s revelation of His creation, if His own word says they CAN NOT KNOW IT?! They are spiritually ill equipped to understand God’s revelation concerning any of God’s Word. They must be born again of the Spirit of God or they will not understand. (See St. John 3) Why is this so shocking? We can debate for millions of years, but unless their minds are renewed by the word of God and the Spirit of God, they will only think with their unrenewed minds! Instead of debating, we ought to be praying and fasting. Paul was ever speaking of men of corrupt minds, or the carnally minded, or the fleshly mind. (2 Corinthians 11:3; Colossians 2:18; 1 Timothy 6:5; 2 Timothy 3:8)

Ignorance is a great hindrance, and this is why God seeks to give us His wisdom and knowledge. God’s word tells us that God doesn’t want us to be ignorant about things about Himself or His universe. We must stay alert about keeping our minds sharp. God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)

This is why this author believes God has dealt with me to write this book. I don’t claim to have superior knowledge, but God expects His children to be wise. My prayer is that ALL God’s children learn and gain the wisdom He so greatly desires to give them through this earthen vessel, for God’s wisdom truly is a treasure. (2 Corinthians 4:7) as are all His attributes! I only seek to encourage the reader to seek God on their own through His word and in their prayer closets. Hopefully you will be provoked to reach out to God for not only His wisdom, but for all His wonderful blessings! (Hebrews 10:24) If we submit our minds to God and worship Him with all our minds, debates will cease.

God’s universe has amazed the brightest minds in history. Learning about the earth, the stars, the other plants, the moons, and all they contain have fascinated countless hearts for centuries. Moses in the first chapter of Genesis, says, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 kjv) The word heaven here in this verse could easily have been translated in the plural. The word heaven here in Hebrew is shamayim. It means, to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve). (8064) Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.

In addition to (Hebrews 11:3), which speaks of the universe, Paul, the writer of Hebrews, also gives us more light on the subject. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, BY WHOM ALSO HE MADE THE WORLDS; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of His person, and UPHOLDING ALL THINGS BY THE WORD OF HIS POWER, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high. (Hebrews 1:1-3) (Also see St. John 1:3)

We see here that not only did God create the universe, He also upholds it. It’s worthy of note that the word create in (Genesis 1:1) is bara which means that God created the universe from nothing. There was nothing God used prior to In the Beginning to make the universe. In the book of Job, which is considered the oldest book in the Bible, we find another inspired word, that helps us. God, which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. (Job 9:7-10)

"Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his
