A collection of poems about amazing hispanics. They are not the most famous hispanics but are amazing none the less. They come from different backgrounds and different countries and have done many different things.

I read Bravo! Poems About Amazing Hispanics back in September for Hispanic Heritage Month. This brightly colored picture book contains short poem-bios of notable Hispanic figures from history (many of which I had not heard about) written by Margarita Engle and illustrated by Rafael Lopez. I've enjoyed every book I've read from Engle and know her to be a notable Hispanic author of Hispanic books for kids. This was no exception, and I learned a lot from this book, and want to learn more about the people in it. Highly recommended.Trigger warnings (that I remember): racism, discrimination, poverty, sexism, injustice.

This book is very inspiring and shows many great examples of Hispanic heritage role models. I would love to use this book in my Bilingual classroom and allow the ELLs to pick a person in the book -or research their own- and write a letter to them of admiration and courage. I also think that this book allows any other students to believe in themselves no matter how poor the circumstances may be.
