Introduction
If the inspection can be considered as an art, the writing of an inspection report is also an art. Many inspectors, however competent they may be, are undervalued because their reports have flaws or shortcomings that their recipients considered as objectionable or unacceptable. Too much information or not enough, approximations, but also typographical errors such as copy / paste unfortunate, such are the imperfections, that as a Quality Control Coordinator, I have observed in 20 years of career.
Do you want to improve your reputation without having to (too much) change your work habits? Make your reports indispensable documents for your clients? Do you want your reports to be references for other novice inspectors or not?
This manual is intended for all inspectors, whether you are an independent company or a part of a Quality Control company. This guide is also useful for all those who are in charge of inspection reports and in charge of their operations such as Quality Control Managers or coordinators.
This manual is not intended to teach you the inspection. It aims to bring you these few keys that will enhance your relationship with simple methods that will allow you to be recognized not only as an inspector, but also as an editor.
For my part, I have been using these methods since I started, so I can confirm its effectiveness in petrochemicals. I had the opportunity to confront this exercise both as an inspector and as a quality control coordinator and I had the opportunity to train many inspectors in this method. I am practicing all these activities as I write this manual. I therefore propose to share with you my method which has proved its effectiveness in all circumstances. You can, of course, apply some or all of the techniques I am giving you here.
In order to cover all aspects of the inspection report, I suggest that you proceed in stages. Each of these sections will address different themes that are described below.
Section 1 will identify errors to be avoided. I myself have been able to observe these mistakes in the exercise of my profession and even unfortunately sometimes committed.
Section 2 will focus on the content
