    The Mayan Crochet Blanket pattern is an exploration of the Yucatan peninsula through crochet. In each 20" square motif, the radiating lines of the central hexagon reflect the pyramids at Chichen Itza, while the surrounding shapes are reminiscent of the Mayan calendar.     The blanket is shown in two versions. Make it in a single colour to show off the intricate stitch work, or work in multiple colours for a kaleidoscopic effect.

    The pattern includes yarn requirements for both colour versions and three size options, determined by the number of squares. The approximate measurements are:

    4 squares = 118 cm x 118 cm (46′′ x 46′′)
    6 squares = 118 cm x 172 cm (46′′ x 68′′)
    9 squares = 172 cm x 172 cm (68′′ x 68′′)

      What is the Mayan Crochet Blanket?

      Inspired by the mystical geometry of the ancient Mayan people, this intricate blanket is an exploration of the Yucatan peninsula through crochet. The radiating lines of the central hexagon reflect the pyramids at Chichen Itza, while the surrounding shapes are reminiscent of the Mayan calendar. Enclosing all of this are the rippling forms of the subtropical forest and the clear blue skies.

      The blanket motif measures 20" square. Four motifs will make a striking lap throw; six a blanket perfect for sharing and nine will make a spectacular blanket. This motif is equally beautiful made in one colour to show off the stitch work, or worked in multiple colours for a kaleidoscopic effect.

      Any crocheter with basic skills will enjoy this crochet adventure. If you can make a granny square, you can make the Mayan Crochet Blanket. I will be at your side every step of the way with step by step instructions and videos for each round of the pattern. You’ll also find charts for all parts here in this ebook.

      You will make the motif a few times and, after joining them, add a simple border. You can decide on the final size of your blanket by choosing how many of the squares you will make.

      The approximate size of each option is :

      4 squares = 118 cm x 118 cm (46″ x 46″)

      6 squares = 118 cm x 172 cm (46″ x 68″)

      9 squares = 172 cm x 172 cm (68″ x 68″)
