    All in all, this is an authoritative guide based on the author's years of personal and professional experience, in addition to thousands of hours of research and discovery of reasons many private home decision makers are finagled while only a few aren't. Ultimately, this is a personal guide and critique against our private home heads making decisions about residential contractors from positions of weakness rather than strength. There are just too many well meaning residents who make hiring choices without first establishing for themselves a reasonable basis for so doing. The aim: help turn this situation around.
    In other words, with respect to the nature of each home project literally being a personal business operation, we often approach this as a casual affair. That's just to say, at a time when it's in our best interest to have a clearly thought out and quantifiable means for ascertaining the credibility, professionalism, expediency, and reputations of contractors, we, out of sheer carelessness of our kind hearts, measure these based primarily on how we 'feel' about them. However, the history and present-day reality of successful 'scores' by dishonest contractors against our residents are regularly confirmed as being the ramifications for authorizing home service contractor assistance based largely on favorable emotions we have or have had about them rather than on documented facts.
    Being Mushy With It? Iidentifies several ways, unbeknownst to you, dishonest contractors can also trick you into making deals with them which are likewise emotionally rather than reasonably founded. However, the author delves further to emphasize how you can conscientiously avoid that sort of emotional pitfall through exercising just a few learn-able and immediately applicable strategies.
