Self-knowledge
I was twenty-seven years old and I wanted my life to be better.
My career wasn’t working. Though it paid good money and I enjoyed the work and the people I worked with, I wasn’t passionate about it and that left me feeling drained. My relationship had also ended and I was heartbroken. I thought my life was planned out; I was going to marry that person, settle down and live a normal, happy life. Instead, I felt completely lost and that I was failing at life.
The only upside I could see at the time was that I wasn’t tied to anything. So when an opportunity presented itself to work in Japan, the decision to go was effortless. I felt I needed to do some soul searching. I also knew I wanted more free time. So much of my life had been filled with busyness. I rarely took the time to remind myself why I was doing all of the things that made me so
