Make your own Tropical Fish and Discus Cichlids Super Foods and See Your Healthy, Happy Thriving Fish Growing by the Day!
For me writing this book has been an incredible journey, where I have learnt so much about food for my tropical fish and what's best for them.
How the book came about, and the actual writing of this publication, was in truth down to world famous Naked Master Chef “Jamie Oliver” who was the inspiration for me, where he clearly shows after selling more than 20 million of his very many fabulous books written on Great Foods, that there is a real desire and passion for experiencing food that is a real pleasure and joy to eat, and I might also add, very healthy and good for us all, we humans that is!
Then when continuing to decide on writing the book, I also thought of the line from the fabulous film “We Bought a Zoo” where the beautiful Scarlet Johannsson asked Matt Damon “why did he buy the zoo” and to which he replied “why not” and that's how this book come into being, I thought to myself “why not” write a book on tropical fish super foods and as they say, the rest is history.
I really know you will get a really big kick out of this book as a Tropical Fish Hobbyist or Discus Lover. As it is no exaggeration when I say, once your fish begin to eat these “Super Foods” on a regular basis, you will literally see your fish growing by the day!
In the book, you will find a great number of fabulous super food recipes to try for your tropical fish and discus. I know by using any of these recipes, you will eventually have healthy, happy, thriving tropical fish, and growing to a size you could have only imagined.
The Super Foods recipes found in this book, only use fresh meats and vegetables. Perhaps the book is very timely, as we become more aware today of micro beads and other grave pollutant elements finding their way into the water table system and food chain that can harm our pets, wild life and ourselves.
So by making these super foods, at least you know for your peace of mind, what ingredients are used, and another enormous benefit to you, being the massive savings on tropical fish food. Over the months your fish will grow and grow, until eventually, your tropical fish will come into breeding condition and want to spawn, if the water and other aquarium conditions are optimal and right.
So please enjoy this book and the plethora of delights you can now feed to your Tropical Fish and Discus.

Introduction
A Little Food Secret to Share
Firstly, I would like to thank you for picking up a copy of this book and I know it will become a very valuable friend and companion for many years to come.
It was back in the late 1970’s and 1980’s when trying to breed Wild Discus the King of the Aquarium
in captivity, and after countless failures, disappointments and set-backs, I had a ‘eureka’ moment, that resulted in a complete re-think after nearly ten years of heartache and effort.
One of the key factors in addition to routine (love and care) and the correct water conditions for Discus and all Tropical Fish in fact, is obviously food. Everything I had read and learnt up to that time regarding Discus I discarded, for I found many contradictions in the articles surrounding this infamous species, and no one was giving anything away from the commercial world, in view of the vast sums of money to be earned from exporting Discus from fish stations in South America.
So like Jack Wattley, Dr. Eduard Schmidt-Focke and others, I started again from a blank sheet as they say!
Commercial Fish Foods Just Couldn’t Do It for Me!
One of the biggest problems I had with the Discus from the Wild was their health, very drawn and thin looking, and I immediately started to realise that off-the-shelf
commercial fish foods was not going to be the answer and certainly not live foods, that carried many diseases and horrors inside of these life forms themselves, and this included the water that the live foods were being transported in!
By this time of continually trying to breed Discus for a decade, it had become a very personal thing, as I was determined to break the taboo that had eluded Aquarists since Tropical Fish Keeping begun from the Great Exhibition
back in of 1851 in England, over 130 years at the time and that was to breed Wild Discus in captivity successfully.
I realized to be able to breed wild discus in captivity, I had to really gain their total trust and as they say the way to reach someone’s heart is through their stomach
and this was the case, if I was to ever have any chance of breeding Discus (symphysodon) in captivity.
Would We Want Egg and Chips Every Day of Our Life!
So I tried to put myself and mind into the thoughts of the Discus, these species being carnivores like us and thinking what food do they really need and what would they like to eat, and most of all, what is best for them health wise.
So I began my food trail hunt in search of information surrounding the Discus diet, and as I progressed, I began to pick up snippets of information along the way, surrounding the discus diet likes and preferences, from the darkest reaches of the River Amazon in Brazil, to the Delta and adjoining Rivers such as the Tefe in Peru. Such research became a journey of discovery and enlightenment, providing me with a tangible picture of what was required in the way of food.
I began to use myself as a human Guinee Pig in many respects, and thinking of the human condition and body health wise as a carnivore also. From further research regarding super athletes in Boxing, certain foods began to seem plausible solutions with regards to protein and vitamin replenishment and the building up of the body. Suddenly, the word condition
dawned on me, for this was the case with Boxers, they had to get into a fighting condition health wise.
Around the same time, and keeping in contact with other friends, who were also passionate about trying to breed Discus in the World, I could see Jack Wattley was travelling down the same route and path as myself, as he started to make certain foods for the Discus Fry especially when born, so he could try to rear the babies away from the parents.
So I started to buy certain vegetables
