    The main thing you need to know about me is that I am an avid reader myself and that I write what I love to read: action-packed, fast-paced, novels into which I try to inject a touch of humor and a bit of useful information about preparing for emergencies. Another thing you should know is that I honor my readers by trying my best to deliver an entertaining and complete tale in each novel. Even when I’m writing a trilogy or a series I will not leave you hanging because I never want my readers to feel cheated. Far from it. In an ideal world I want for you to look forward to my next novel with the same sense of eager anticipation I have at the release of each of my  favorite author's books. The major influences on my writing style comes from the authors I love to read: Louis L’Amour, Stephen King, Frank Herbert, J.R.R Tolkien and Elmore Leonard to name but a few. Duane played guitar in high school and sang backup in Laramie, Wyoming as part of Suzy Q and the Quad City Ramblers. So, decades later it seemed like a natural thing to play with the Rock Bottom Remainders (an all-author band featuring Stephen King, Dave Barry, Greg Isles, Scott Turow and Ridley Pearson) at the Miami Book Fair. He still plays, not often enough, and spent thirty years being an electrical engineer. He got married and had kids and recently, He became suddenly unemployed. Faced with the idea of yet more engineering work, He went back to my second love – writing. He went to college as an English major mistakenly believing he could learn how to write and that there were careers available as an English Major. He wrote his first novel back then, a disturbingly bad science fiction story, then waited 25 years for the next one.
