      What’s it about?

      A world where two-thirds of workers are unhappy in their jobs sounds like a pretty dire state of affairs, but, sadly, it is the reality: 66 percent of us are set to spend around 100,000 hours of our lives doing something that we don’t enjoy. But you don’t have to be one of those people; instead you can live a life that you have designed specifically with your interests, skills, and values at its heart. And you can do this by applying the very same principles that designers use when they are developing new products.

      By engaging with the design process, you will take your problem (an unsatisfying work life) and follow a formula that has already been tried and tested many times over by designers. This formula will take you through everything step by step—from where you are right now, to brainstorming solutions, to trialling prototypes—in order to find a life that works perfectly for you. Of course, this does not mean that you will not meet failure along the way, but failure is something that designers are accustomed to, and even embrace, and you can learn to reframe failure in the same way.
