This story is set in 1971 when escaping to the countryside to enjoy the good life, a rare happening. A humorous, sensual yet thoughtful tale of how Mike and Jan and their children cope with living deep in rural Wales. Whilst Mike struggles to produce an income from the smallholding and repair the ancient farmhouse, Jan has a particularly problematic involvement with a female neighbour. Not all the locals are friendly and unexplained 'accidents' occur' - but nothing is quite what it seems....

    Dr. John Evans was the founding director of the Population, Health, and Nutrition Department of the World Bank; the former chair of the Board of Directors of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1987 to 1995; the founding dean of the McMaster University Medical School; and the president of the University of Toronto from 1972 to 1978. He remains active in work supporting non-governmental organizations in developing countries.
