Acknowledgment
Your being on this page indicates that you have a great desire to change your life and of others around you. You may have tried many solutions earlier which could have solved your problem partially or fully. There would have been few scenarios, if not many, in your life too in which you could not get any closer to the solution rather your problem overwhelmed you well before you could give it a real shot.
It is natural for us to try solving our problems with our experience. It’s different that at times we do so without knowing them completely. Our problems can be solved in multiple ways but knowing the best way always is the key. In Panacea TheBook we strive to present you such a key to solving varied problems that you may encounter or are encountering in your life.
Someone said it rightly that a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step. Panacea started with some unstructured thoughts and later evolved into some structured discussion and eventually into what you have in hand.
We thank all those who contributed vitally for the creation of Panacea TheBook without whom bringing Panacea to its existence was a remote possibility. Makrand Karkare, a seasoned business, helped us set the tone of this book and Sanjay Sircar, a seasoned IT leader, helped us bring Panacea TheBook to its current state. Sudhir Jagtap’s creativity brought life into Panacea TheBook’s characters.
We are also grateful to all those who happened to meet us during the evolution of Panacea TheBook and shared ups and downs of their lives with us. They offered their experiences and hard learning to help us shape this book up better.
Certainly, we thank our dear ones who must have felt troubled with our spontaneous and long discourse on Panacea TheBook on various occasions and yet they always helped us stay focused on this book, ‘Panacea TheBook’.
Prologue
Panacea TheBook ....a solution to all the problems
In today’s world, we encounter problems in almost all spheres of our lives. Problems can be professional or personal; big or small; simple or complicated; conscious or sub-conscious in nature. Whatever be its nature, one quality that each problem inherits is its potential to overpower our mind. Every problem embraces the Blind men and an Elephant
story in which everyone describes the Elephant based on their upbringing, culture, experience, and cognitive understanding. Our problems are like the Elephant in that story - the description and the solution of the problem are tied to describer's cognizance.
Our understanding of a problem dictates whether we act like a poor chicken without head desperately looking for solution without knowing the problem completely or solve the problem like an expert.
Being human, we tend to resort to either any readily available work-around or ignore our problem akin to an ostrich hiding its head in the sand during a sandstorm, pretending that the storm doesn’t exist, instead of facing the reality. Since, most of the times, work-around turns out to be a mere ‘Work-around’ and not ‘the solution’ to the problem, our problem tends to resurface like an agitated spouse demanding deserving attention. An ignored problem is a cancer that, if not treated in time, may become terminal. Needless to mention the toll it takes on our personal life and time which are already in short supply. So, why ignore a problem and not put it to rest?
This book aims at helping you overcome your self-restraints and assist you in not only avoiding the side effects of unresolved problems but also finding ‘the right solution’ every time, and rest assured! It is not about self-abdication; rather it helps you in really knowing your true self and comprehending what really matters to you!
"Living Life means living on your own terms consciously or subconsciously!"
Panacea TheBook’s characters
RBS
Roosevelt Business School (RBS), a well-known institution reputed for creating future leaders, is located in a far off land with the scenic landscape providing an environment conducive to learning. Sprawling over 100 acres of land, it is perfect combination of tall buildings and calm settings with a blend of all kinds of modern amenities that a student could wish for.
Every year, RBS hosts a meet between its alumni of past decade and the current year students. The alumni are formally invited through an invitation letter and the college students are informed about the schedule (as it happens normally). The Meet is hosted for facilitating, sharing of experience, and strengthening, networking old and new students. Four of the old students invited to current year Meet
are Donzel (Donzi), Eklavya (Ekki), Raina (Rene), and Robert (Bob) popularly known as ‘Revolutionist’ in their college days. All the four had met one another in RBS on the very first day of their admission and remain hooked thereafter.
Eklavya (Ekki)
Ekki is a businessman, who has inherited most of his business from his family. He joined his family business after completing his majors in Business
Administration but it’s only a year ago that he, after working at various executive profiles within his group of companies, was looked at and designated as the Chief Executive of the group.
Ekki is very conscientious and is always keen to learn and try new things. Being the CEO of the group, he is now keen on diversifying his family business and wants to explore lucrative business territories not charted by his group earlier. However, it has been quite an ordeal for him as most of his management staff is deep rooted in the old conservative style of doing business.
Ekki is married to Raina, whom he fell in love with during his college days and has been loyal to her ever since. Of late, because of the busy schedule that dictates Ekki’s life, he relies completely on Raina, for the upbringing of their two daughters as well as for managing all family affairs.
Raina (Rene)
Raina, a promising student of finance in her college days, was sure to make a mark in business world but her love for Ekki took the top priority. After her graduation, she worked as an investment banker managing some of the biggest global portfolios for almost a year before settling down with Ekki. Raina is married to Ekki, the love of her life and
