There are times in your life, I’m sure, where you might have wondered, “How the heck did I get here? This wasn’t the plan I had in mind!” And then it’s back to “normal” and life goes on. That is, we go on reacting to circumstances and often trying to change conditions that seem like a struggle to get to where we hoped to go. And in the process, stress becomes a daily experience.
The cause of this “problem” is this: we are living out of a mind that is conditioned by the past — and not clearly free in the moment. Free to make choices from a perspective of being in charge of our thoughts, here and now.
The good news is that your reality can change as you become more aware of how you create it. Greater consciousness equals greater choice, which in turn gives you the power to accept, change, or reject the thoughts and feelings that flow through your enhanced awareness. The bottom line is this: if you want to change the conditions in your life you need to work from the inside-out, not the outside-in. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, Jim served as a Pilot in the United States Navy. He then went on to earn his Master of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. Jim now lives in Vermont, where he enjoys hiking, photography, classical music, and time spent with family.

Introduction
Seems like we suddenly wake up into mid-life or beyond and wonder how the heck we got to where we are. We look around and find things we like and things we don’t. We sometimes feel happy, and sometimes find despair covers us like a blanket of fog. So we try harder to make things different, and for a while maybe we see things getting better — only to discover that sometime later we have fallen back into a similar pattern or situation that in some ways is really no different than what we had before we tried to make a change.
So, what exactly is the situation you find yourself in? That’s always a good place to start: at the beginning of present reality. Whatever your reality may be, it’s just the outer conditions that are merely the result of your pattern of thoughts and feelings played out over time. What I mean is that your thoughts, beliefs, desires, feelings — all the inner reality you amassed as a child who was unable to discern truth from fiction and to this day have going on — is the creative energy that determines what shows up in your outer reality today. Your reality, by the way, is neither good nor bad but just a label we all learned to put on things to
