About this ebook

Landmark Text Now Revised and Expanded for a New Generation

We all face hard times and obstacles in life--whether physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, creatively, or relationally. Yet we have a God who is with us and for us. A God who, as Micah 2:13 says, is a "Breaker" who goes before us.

Now revised and expanded, this new edition of Barbara Yoder's best-selling book will help you discover that the same God who led Moses and broke open the way for his people is leading the church today--and he will break open any way or route he has ordained for us to go through.

Yet he does not do it alone. You are part of the breakthrough. Every believer filled with the Spirit has access to God's breaker anointing. We can move forward, therefore, with faith, confidence, and bold, courageous action. He is waiting for us to step out and change our lives, cities, and nations. God the Breaker goes before us--and where he goes, nothing can hold us back.

"We all have obstacles that crop up in our lives. Obstacles can keep us—as individuals, families, congregations, states and nations—from our dreams and our destinies. How do we handle obstacles? Do we give up, cry, turn and run, looking desperately for another way? In The Breaker Anointing, Barbara Yoder offers a much more acceptable option: Let Jesus blow them away. Barbara’s book teaches us how to align with the Lord of the breakthrough to clear the path ahead so that we can run the race to win!"

Not only has she powerfully taught this vital aspect of Christ’s ministry with precision and authority, but she lives it! Breakthroughs follow her ministry and touch many individuals, but also regions. In this very hour, God is highlighting this amazing revelation of the Breaker and is inviting His people to move forward with Him to establish breakthroughs. He is inviting YOU! "Barbara Yoder, one of my long-standing board of governors members and a daughter in the Lord, presents in The Breaker Anointing the revelation of the strategy, process and action required for breakthrough. As we enter this new era of intensified warfare, which I wrote about in God’s World War III, this book will give you the needed understanding and tools to break through every obstacle to both personal and corporate reformation. God is retooling the Church for the greatest breakthrough it has ever seen. Barbara has successfully modeled with her life what it means to be a successful, warring, breakthrough saint. This is a must-read."

Dr. Bill Hamon, bishop, Christian International Apostolic Network

The breaker goes up before them; they break out, pass through the gate and go out by it. So their king goes on before them, and the LORD at their head.

Foreword

In every generation, God seems to select individuals to deliver distinct messages that He wants His people to understand. When He wanted to communicate with the Church about the breaker anointing, He assigned the task to a messenger named Barbara Yoder.

This does not mean that other people were not speaking about the subject at the same time. They were (and I was one of them). I suspect that the rest of us helped the message reach a tipping point, so that when Barbara came along and taught about it with authority, people sat up and took notice.

The key concept of God as the Breaker comes from Micah 2:13—The One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD at their head (NIV). The Holy Spirit highlighted this verse to many of us. We all prayed into it, spoke on it and lived it, but none of us as much as Barbara. In her case, the word began to be identified with her, almost incarnationally. When she began to step up and decree the word that the Breaker must go before and break open the way, the tipping point came. The message about breakthrough broke through.

Finally, people in the Church could recognize the missing pieces of their stuck situations (all kinds of situations—personal, churchwide, citywide, regional) and do their part to invite the Breaker to come with His prevailing power and make a way through all locked gates and blocked passageways. After they found out about the breaker anointing, people could much more effectively invite the King to break open the way to His transforming blessings. Nothing is impossible for Him!

Well over a decade has passed since the original version of this book came out. The message has proven its worth. This revised and expanded edition includes much brand-new material that will really help readers lay hold of the idea of God as the Breaker, the one who makes a way for His Kingdom to come even when it seems utterly impossible.

What do you need to break through right now? This book will give you just what you have been looking for!

James W. Goll, founder, God Encounters

Foreword

Apostle Barbara Yoder has written a masterpiece. She does an excellent job explaining how the glory of God breaks through into our lives and cities to bring change. Her premise comes from Micah 2:13: The one who breaks open will come up before them; they will break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it. We receive the breaker anointing when we understand that the Anointed One, the Messiah, has gone before us and has broken the headship of our enemy. Those with this anointing walk in the ministry of a forerunner.

Jesus always leads us in triumphal entry. As we praise, God Himself, the Breaker, comes down that corridor to inhabit and enthrone Himself on our praises (see Psalm 22:3). Woe to the principality that tries to stand its ground in that corridor when God is coming through!

The breaker anointing will break fear away from you as you move into the future. And as we break through the heavens, God releases to His Church gifts, revelations, strategies, prophetic mantles, tongues and interpretations, healing, deliverance and more.

This word triumph is from the Greek word thriambeuo (three-am-byoo-o), which denotes a grand triumphal entry. God wants to lead us in a grand procession through that corridor of demonic resistance. The word breaker is from the Hebrew parats (paw-rats). God wants to lead us in breaking through where no revelation, no prophecy and no gifts are flowing.

Tremendous warfare goes on at the gates of our cities. Only the breaker anointing can enable us to break through the demonic forces that control the entryway of God’s presence and bring true change into our lives, our cities and our regions.

As you read this book, you can expect there to be a lifting of your head, for as you understand the breaker anointing and the manifestation of God as the Breaker, He will begin to pass before you and break open a new way. Get ready for a marked increase in your understanding of and faith in God’s ability to break through any gate standing in your way!

Acknowledgments

How does one possibly remember to acknowledge everyone who has contributed to the successful crafting of a book? Given that, I so value the place Bishop Bill Hamon and Chuck Pierce have had in my life, helping to shape my view of victorious breakthrough. And to the late Dr. Peter Wagner, I cannot say enough. It was Peter who asked me to write this book in the first place. What a mentor, molder and prodder he was! He was also a father and friend. He was a champion encourager. The late Myrtle D. Beall, pastor of Bethesda Missionary Temple in Detroit, Michigan, along with her daughter, Patricia Beall Gruits, had a great impact on me in my formative Christian life, imparting the breaker anointing. And to the practical advisors, I so value the editorial assistance of Kathryn Deering and the ever-constant cheerleader and advisor, Jane Campbell, the editorial director of Chosen Books. I’m just grateful to all of these wonderful people who in some way have made this book possible.

My Introduction to the Breaker

In 1970, I moved from Wisconsin to Detroit, Michigan, to do graduate work at Wayne State University. When I arrived, a friend of mine invited me to go with her to her church, Bethesda Missionary Temple. I ended up in what was, for me, a very unusual church service. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced
