Introduction
It would be right to assume that you are thinking of embarking on a detoxification program, which is excellent as there are so many benefits for both your body and mind that you can achieve.
The fact that you are reading this book confirms that you are more than just a little bit interested in detoxing. For whatever reason you have to undergo a detox it is important to realize that you are unique and things that work for some individuals may not work for others and this should not be a reason for giving up.
The media hype that surrounds detox may have led you to believe that you will have to starve but you will be rewarded with a body to die for in the minimal amount of time. This however is a statement that you should dismiss immediately, it is true that some celebrities will cite detox as the way they have shifted the stubborn pounds which gives the impression that detox is no more than a starvation diet.
To start with detox is about making changes to assist your body to function in the best way possible whilst eliminating any toxins that have built up overtime. Therefore detox is not a diet; it is a way of looking at both your diet and lifestyle and beginning to eliminate areas that could be having a negative effect on you.
Everyone is individual and therefore should tailor the detox to their own specification whilst focusing on how to feel the best they ever have and then repeating these feelings day after day for the rest of their life.
Remember it is your body and everything that you choose to put in your body and the way that you treat your body is what makes you the way you are and contribute to how you feel on a daily basis.
Chapter 1 – What is detox?
There are a number of misconceptions about what constitutes a detox and how it is performed.
The General Understanding of Detox
Detoxification is a natural process that the body goes through to get rid of unwanted substances and or toxins. This is one of the primary purposes of the body which continually works and combines with all of the body’s other functions. Therefore it can be deduced that detoxification is about making improvements and enabling the bodies detox process to work at optimum levels.
The way in which a person can achieve this is by decreasing the toxins that they put into their body whilst also backing up the body’s detoxification and eradication systems by providing the body with all of the nutrients that it requires for peak performance and optimal function.
