These three patterns knit up quickly into a lovely matching set of hat, cowl and scarf, which all are thick and warm as well as soft and lightweight. Each pattern comes with clear and specific directions and reference photographs for ease of use.
Things to know about these patterns:
Hat Skill level: Advanced Beginner requires knitting in the round
Hat fits to size 22".
Cowl Skill level: Advanced Beginner requires knitting in the round
Cowl comes with instructions for lengthening.
Scarf Skill level: Beginner
Scarf can be made any length and pattern includes instructions for lengthening it.
Each pattern requires about 250 yards of any yarn that meets the gauge specifications. The pictured hat, cowl and scarf were all knitted with Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarns.
Size US 8 circular needles (16” long) for hat
Size US 8 circular needles (29” long) for cowl
Size US 8 short needles for scarf
Size US 8 double pointed needle (dpn) – one set of five needles

- Aran Inspired Cable and Moss Stitch Hat with Matching Scarf Knitting Pattern Book
This pattern is for two items, a Moss and Cable hat along with its matching Moss Stitch scarf. This slouch beret type hat knits up warm and comfortable as well as both soft and lightweight. Instructions come complete with description of how to knit the beret point! The soft and inviting scarf is completely reversible (same on both sides). The scarf adds matching elegance to the hat. Things to know about these patterns: Skill level: Advanced Beginner Scarf Size: Approximately 48” long and 6 1⁄2” wide (Pattern includes instructions to increase both width and length to suit your needs.) Hat Size: Fits up to hat size 22" Supplies: Size 10 needles (9 inch circular or 16 inch circular) or one set Size 10 DPN Size 10 cable needle Size 9, 10 or 11 short needle or DPN to help in bind off Size 11 short needles. 4 skeins (100 grams each) Sport or Worsted Weight Yarn. - Checkerboard Hat with Matching Scarf
This pattern knits a wonderfully thick and warm slouch beret type hat.. Instructions come complete with description of how to knit the beret point ! In addition, the pattern includes instructions on how to knit a matching scarf. This hat has been created in a regular size as well as a larger size, in order to accommodate someone with long or otherwise voluminous hair who wishes to place it inside the hat. In both hats, the band stretches well, but still grips. Things to know about this pattern: Skill level: Advanced beginner. This hat requires extremely basic knitting skills. The only complicated factors relate to slipping and picking up stitches. There is also a three needle bind-off needed at the end. The scarf requires only basic knitting skills Size: Fits to hat size 22 (or for the larger hat 23) Supplies Required: Size 10 needles (can be straight and/or 16 inch circular) or one set Size 10 DPN Size 10 or 11 short needle or DPN to help in 3 needle bind off and final hat band bind off Place marker Tapestry Needle One skein of Super Saver Red Heart Yarn is enough to complete this hat. Another one will complete the scarf.
